    No, it's not. Their original news release stated there was a HD 6970 1GB but then sent out a correction and apology which said the HD 6970 portion of the email was a typo.

    thats a 100$ typo
    a 6950 1GB for 20-30$ less than the 2GB version sounds like a waste
    most people buying something for almost 300$ hopefully are keeping it for about 2 years, which will probably push that 1GB to its limit.
