Got a question for more experience OC'ers. I really want to know the in's and outs of the bios.

What exactly does C1E, and CPU C3 report etc.. do? When I disable them, my clock stays the same and is not downclocked. Even with speestep enabled. I was wondering what each of their functions was and if it's save to leave all the CPu CX reports and C1E turned off permanently?

I don't think there is any reason to disable them honestly, unless you are trying for 6 ghz or something, and even then I can't say they'd matter. They don't seem to be hindering overclocks this time around and I'd leave them on for 24/7.

Not that it matters too much, but this post is from me. I do indeed have this board and a 2600k so I wanted you to know I'm not just randomly posting things.

Oh wow I didn't even realize that I had put the RAM in the recommended slots. I just put them there because of clearance issues with my heatsink (also had to move the front fan to the rear, now in a pull-pull config). Just so used to RAM being in A1 B1

I have the exact same problem- can't get into windows at 46x or above-unfortunately, clearing CMOS and enabling internal PLL didn't remedy the problem. I think I've hit a multi wall at 45x with my 2600k (although I haven't tried more than 1.475 vcore).

I can also run 4.5ghz (45*100) prime stable for 12 hrs with core temps peaking in high 60's, but it requires 1.39xx vcore. Anything less throws errors or bluescreens.

I have the Noctua NH-D14 and there is no way the Vengeance RAM is going to fit with the useless heatsinks on. I say useless because I actually took mine apart and most of the chips are not even in contact with the heatsink pad. The glue is really crappy and comes of the actual pad material very easily, only a little bit of the glue came off on the edge of certain chips. Besides the mechanism that retains both halves of the RAM heatsinks is not really holding anything together. I don't know what the official theory is but I would not be surprised that the RAM is better cooled without the heatsinks than with them on.

Are you sure your power supply is up to the task, I had to change mine (700W), also I had to up the other voltages not just the CPU core.

I am having a massive issue with the board though. Everytime I turn my computer off, then on again in the morning, it simply will not boot. Keep in mind, I am not overclocking at all, and have Turbo mode turned off. The only way to get the computer to boot into windows is by turning off the PSU, opening it up, removing the power switch connecter, turning the PSU on, reconnecting the power switch, then powering the computer on again.

It then takes me to an Asus screen about having a failed overclock, and to hit F1 to go into setup. Which makes no sense at all since I have not even attempted to overclock.

Once in setup I simply exit and it finally boots into windows.

Does anyone know how I can fix this problem? This is the second day it has done this.

Try setting the volts to stock manually (around 1.25-1.26) on the CPU, and set the RAM voltage manually + the timings & speed. On a side note, Turbo mode should be left on, it's free (stock) performance as well

Me too but no blue screen just will not boot into windows. I am using a XMP for my memory profile Corsair 2000MHz @ a cas (8) but I only had to select a 1866 or 2133 memory setting. Are you guys using your XMP memory profiles or manually setting the memory? Also if you increase the memory speeds will it help your OC? But the good thing is I am at only 1.3V stable on water never gets over 50C with prime. Also on a side note I got my cold boot problem fixed but still can not get the AI Suite_II_ to work. Any ideas or fixes yet?

EDIT: Something is just odd... cpu-z is reading me @ max of 3400mhz :/

EDIT again:! Nevermind i fixed it.... I had to download CPU-Z 1.56.2 BETA now reports r correct

Your ram was not originally designed for SB, best not to use the XMP profile.

Disabling Speedstep on my PRO MB removes my multiplier unlock setting LOL anyone else having this problem? I haven't updated the bios just yet.

If you update the bios to the latest, you'll get unlocked multiplier and PLL Internal Overvoltage(necessary for high OC) for K series.

Is there anyway to disable the bluetooth in the bios or maybe a switch on the board? I have no use for it, and like most other add ons, not needed for oc.

I'm gonna update it whenever the non beta comes out... I really don't want to kill the board. But thanks for telling me it's just a bios bug.

I'm using a silverstone 1000W power supply. It's worked well in another system in the past, so I think it's Ok. What other voltages did you increase?

I played around with all of the bios settings mentioned in this thread and other p8p67 overclocking guides I've found, and I was never able to get into windows at 4.6ghz or above using up to 1.475 vcore. Soooo, I returned my 2600k and got a 2500k. I'm at 4.9 ghz now (with the exact same hardware setup as before), but still working on stability. I think it will need about 1.41ish vcore to be linx and/or prime stable at this speed for this new chip. I guess not all these 2nd gen intel chips are cut out for 4.8ghz+ overclocks.

A question for everyone here- has anyone had to raise VccSA for 4.9ghz+ stable overclocks? Some guides suggest raising VccSA in tandem with VccIO when using faster memory, tighter timings, or increasing the bclock. I'm running my memory at 1333mhz with loose timings, so I haven't increased VccSA or VccIO yet. However, I do have some decent ddr3-2000mhz sticks I'd like to use after cpu stability testing, and I'm wondering if folks have had to increase VccSA and or VccIO to run 8 GB of ram (2 x 4gb sticks) at 1866mhz or above.

No. I did some testing on an earlier BIOS and found that with 52+ and 1866MHz 6-7-6, it didn't respond to VCCIO for some reason, yet the VCCSA started to work in much the same way as the VCCIO normally would have. I'm still not sure if this is an isolated BIOS quirk with the hardware I have or if it's something worth looking into. Lsdmeasap tried it on a Gigabyte board and didn't see the same, but he was using Hyper modules I believe, and I was using PSC.

For 5GHz and below, with 1866MHz and say, CAS 8, you shouldn't really need much extra VCCIO.
