Black Ops requirements

Hello,

my computer is has the following:
AMD Athlon64 X2 3800
Nvidia GTS450
2GB DDR2

but black ops freezes. Is it because of the cpu? The required cpu is AMD Phenom x3 8750.

Does the cpu make a difference?

BlackOps appreciates a reasonably fast CPU and the original x2 are getting quite long in the tooth. Your video card should handle the game at moderate settings but the CPU is your limiting factor.

Well i always thought tha the processor doesn't make much difference in gaming, as long as the clock speed (mhz) are enough...

X3 is so much better than x2?

The processor doesn't make a huge difference... at some point. More and more titles are multithreaded beyond 2 threads and increase in performance past 2 cores. Bad Company 2 is one such example, the game runs notably better on a Quad core.

Clock speed is relavent but the cpus performance is as well. Obviously a newer architecture such as Sandybridge, even if running at 2Ghz, is going to be substantially quicker than an S939 X2, just as having a Pentium 4 in excess of 3 Ghz won't offer acceptable performance anymore.

The first system I built myself when I was younger was using a 3800x2 when they were released. It is now used as a general use buisness machine for my dad. It does this job just fine but I woulnd't try to play any recent games with it.

Basically what I'm trying to get out is your 3800x2 is holding you back.

Yes CPU does make a difference in modern gaming. I have several wolfdale dual core CPU machines and they play games good but only if I clock them to 3.6 - 4.0 ghz.

Anyhow by freezing up do you mean lockup?, If so I would say you have a problem i.e. overheating, bad ram, bad PSU, or just sucky video driver version, etc..

That will be a tough find. The best you can get would be a Athlon 64 X2 6400+ BE 2m cache. If you do get one make sure to get one that has 2m cache.

You may be able to go with a Phenom I however that may be risky since your Mobo maynot support it.

That board supports x6 1090t,that will last longer than a gpu purchase.You got to get that.
