Another thing I find funny is AMD/Intel would snipe any of our Moms on a grocery run if it meant good quarterly results, and you are forever whining about what feser did?
Yo guys!
Does anybody know if a W3680 is running well on the u7?

@dr_dx,
as I see did you push the mem. speed up to 1860 MHz. That is a pretty good number!
But you had to set the vtt Voltage on 1.415 V though which is slightly over the Intel specs.
My goal is a mem. speed at least of 2000 MHz for a 24/7 service. As I know needs a hexa core a 1.5 uncore multiplier. So I would need an uncore frq. of 3000 MHz and much less vtt compared to a "Bloomfield".
Am I right so far?![]()

Installed the UD7 again, trying the latest bios on gigabytes website. As Lsdmeasap said slowmode now works (thanks for the tip man), but it seems to do higher bclk without slowmode as well.
Why did you white out how much voltage your pushing into that for that score?
Because it was INSANELY high, was just seeing how far I could push it on water. It would be impossible to run this daily, so at this point vcore doesnt matter (to me), was just a quick bench/test or whatever.

Today's results after going a while without benching. HT on http://valid.canardpc.com/show_oc.php?id=1570787
Damn 5300mhz. Nice job

Hi,
Does anyone know what are the effects of using slower RAM (e.g. normal 1333 Mhz) when overclocking e.g. a i7-2600K on this motherboard?
- Is real-world performance like on games, video encoding, compression and compiling significantly affected if you use slower RAMs?
- Will overclocking be limited if you use slower RAM e.g. unable to hit 5Ghz?
My understanding is that since memory is clocked independently of the processor, CPU overclocking should not depend on memory speeds, but it's also possible that slower RAMs = lower memory bandwidth, which may have an effect on overall performance - although my main concern is in daily usage rather than benchmarking.
Thanks in advance.
2600K is sandybridge i.e socket 1156, so not compatible with i7 1366 socket.

2600k is s1155. you will need P67 board.

Yo Nam-uk!
How is your oc going?
Did you set your RAM timings right yet?![]()

I had some time to play around with the board tonight, trying to push the uncore. This was as high as I was able to get it. I kept pushing vcore before trying to get something to work but found out it wasnt helping, Im not much of a bencher, guess Ill learn eventually.
OC nub, still pretty good chip you have there, I could only hit around 4200 on my NB ..

anybody got a template for OCing with 12gb (6 x 2gb) of RAM?
Has anyone seen the new SF-2000 based SSD's like the Vertex Pro 3?
The speeds are crazy. Not out for a while yet though.
But what i want to know is, how can these drives be put in RAID on this board with 6Gb/s? i know it has two 6Gb/s SATA connectors but if i remember there was something about them that impacted performance? So i ended up using the intel controller for RAID with my current SSD's.
What other ways are there to RAID at 6Gb/s on this board? a PCE-E RAID controller?
Those look like some 38mm-thick fans you have there in push-pull. I recently acquired a non-UD3R/non-UD5/non-UD7 X58A board () and in trying to mount my Venomous X with Scythe Ultra Kaze fans in push-pull, east/west orientation, the fan blocked the A1 memory slot. I wonder if the Megahalems is thinner...?
