    Athlon X2 5200+ AD5200OCK22GM Poss Unlock?

    Hello Everyone,

I've just noticed this CPU listed on Scan's website in the UK:

    http://www.scan.co.uk/products/amd-a...-cache-65w-oem

    For a Crazy cheap £31.17!

    CPU World Info:

    http://www.cpu-world.com/CPUs/K10/AM...00OCK22GM.html

As far as I can see this looks like it could be a locked Phenom II just like the batch of 5000+ AM2+ CPUs.

The reason I think this is that it has 2x 512MB of L2 Cache, just like those chips did... but its AM3 not only AM2+ and on the new C3 stepping also 45nm so it must be Phenom II / Athlon II Based... surly but if it was Athlon II it would have 2MB of L2 Cache and not one! I guess it could be a locked Athlon II X4?

This could be a real bargain chip if is really is a locked quad!

    Has anyone else tried this?

Going to order one to play with I think

    Anyone else with me?

    Thanks,
    Michael

Worth playing with I guess, but I doubt you will have much excitement past how far you can clock it.

Yes the 5000+ AKA Phenom II X4 FX5000 CPUs are great CPUS, the main annoyance with them is they are only AM2+ as they were original Deneb like the 920 & 940 BE on a C2 stepping so didn't have DDR3 controller support.

This 5200+ is not only an AM3 CPU but also has the newer C3 stepping!X

I heard that some online stores in China (Taobao) got some OEM "Athlon X2 5200 /Athlon II X2 220/215/210e" Unlock into Athlon II X4 /Phenom II X4
They do charge more for vertify "100% unlock" chip
I heard some guys purchased the CPU from them but failed to unlock ,

Too bad I don't have an account or I may try grab one have some fun

    EDIT

Should be OEM "Athlon II X2 210/220" Unlock into Quad Core

Have you had a chance to install it yet?

    Mine arrived today

As you can see above the stepping is:

    CACEC AC 1024FPMW

So it looks good being a CACEC so fingers crossed!

Unfortunately I don't think I will get a chance to install it tonight so will probably not be until tomorrow night until I get it installed

Can't wait to get it installed and have a play!

Ok so update time from me...

I've been running into problems getting much above 3GHz I'm fairly sure its a memory problem but as far as I can see there is no way of changing the Command Rate to T2 its forcing it to be T1 on my motherboard with no option to change it in the Bios! I'm on the latest Bios and it seems I'm not the only one with the issue after a quick google search! It runs fine as T2 at stock speeds and on a 667MHz Dev but at 533MHz it decides it can do T1 at those speeds and gives me no control over it!!!

    Not good!

    Anyway so:

    Just look at those Volts

Seems stable but yes need to run it longer to be sure, its completed 3D Mark 11 fine at this speed also.

    Now for the problem:

As you can see its T1 and if I increase the bus speed upto 270MHz I get BSOD's as soon as I get passed the windows logon screen... sometimes get to the desktop and then BSOD. I've tried lower HT & NB, more volts on CPU and even a little more on ram, setting ram to 400MHz dev which resulting in me having to reset the CMOS altogether...

I when searching on google I found someone say that setting them in single channel allowed them to run T2 but I tried this as you can see in the screen shot without success...

I can't really see a way around this without changing the motherboard or getting some higher speed memory... unless Asus fix it in a Bios upgrade... really annoying.

I do as it happens have a cheap and basic MSI 770-C45 so might give that a go as it would do all I need feature wise but loose the option of crossfire... but it would mean a reinstall / reactivation of windows 7 which would be a real pain... I guess I could install windows on another hard drive etc but all a pain and takes up a fair bit of time etc...

    To Confirm... Full Specs are:

    Asus M4A785TD-V Evo
    Ram: 2x Corsair CM3X2G1600C9DHX (2GB Sticks)
    CPU Cooler: Tuniq tower 120
    Case: Antec 1200
    GPU: HIS HD5770

    I think that's all that's required

    Any ideas?

Lemme look up your motherboard...theres no way you cant change it to 2T ...but it shouldn't make a difference.

Up your core voltage if temps arent too bad...3 Ghz at 1.264 is really pushing things.

That's what I thought before I started looking around google and finding others with the same issue and no solution.

I've tried 1.35v and it makes no difference I'm afraid.
