Talking SilverStone Prepping the TJ11 Flagship Full Tower Chassis

    Source: http://news.softpedia.com/

SilverStone has managed to come up with some pretty interesting computer cases lately, and they're quite set to launch another very interesting model in early 2011, namely the TJ11 full tower case, that delivers not only a very attractive design, but also some pretty cool features on the inside.

According to Chiphell, the SilverStone SST-TJ11B-W, as the case is officially called, represents the flagship model in the company's TEMJIN series, and features a very unusual internal design, which prompts the internal cards (especially the GPUs) to be mounted in a vertical position.

This choice of interior design, combined with an intake fan in the bottom side and an exhaust fan on the upper side, helps deliver a very good level of cooling efficiency for the system.

And since we've reached the topic of cooling, it's important to point out that the case from SilverStone comes equipped with dual 180mm, 700/1200rpm, 18/34dB fans on the sides, an 120mm, 1200rpm, 19dB fan in the lower side (for air intake) and an 120mm, 900rpm, 18dB exhaust fan on the top side.

The TJ11 sports an all-aluminum design and measures 224x657x642mm, which means that it should work quite OK with SSI-CEB, XL-ATX/ATX/MicroATX motherboards.

Moreover, the computer case offers 9 x 5-inch bays, 6 x 3.5-inch bays, 3 x 2.5-inch drive bays, 9 PCI expansion slots and supports cards with a length of up to 310mm, arranged in SLI / Crossfire configuration.

Other features worth mentioning include the dual ATX power supply, overhead, front dual-power switch, as well as 2 x external USB 3.0 ports and 2 x USB 2.0 ports.

The TJ11 is set to hit the shelves at some point in mid-January 2011, with pricing for the European market being set at the equivalent of roughly 3,500 Yuan (400 Euro), which is a pretty OK price point, given the features this thing has in store.
Mostly obvious news... Except for a couple of things. Price (400 EUR, I thought it would be higher? Still rrreaalllly expensive, though), and 9 expansion slots - might be ideal for those looking forward to watercooling their XL-ATX 4-Way boards (Xpredator and HAF-X look cheap, Armorsuit isn't powder boated inside, and apart from that, options are limited...).

looks like a potential monster case, but 400 EUR? You could build an entire computer with that

With the exception of it being rather hideous.

I highly doubt this case is going to receive the acceptance that the TJ07 did.

Why would they interrupt the bottom mesh like that? It'll just impede airflow....

For looks, I suppose... I can't say it looks so much better as is, though.

Ugly. Who the heck needs 9 expansion slots? Seriously, instead of looking at what the community did with the TJ07 (eliminating ALL expansion slots, or most of them) they bring this one with even more. Jeeez. At least they could offer stealth-plates so that you get rid of that ugly front.

For me, I'm looking at FT03. Have you seen it? All I can say is Yum Yum

Are you sure you're talking about expansion slots, and not drive bays? I welcome extra expansion slots, but that numbers of drive bays is clearly overkill...

It's always fun to read fan dB levels below background ambient noise for chassis fan, very believable.

Anyway, I guess this is an extra choice for 4-sli boards users.

Hmm looks like an evolution of the TJ07 rather then the TJ09/10.

    Mybe my next case...

My TJ09 is a bit cramped right now with a dual and trippel radiator, but depends on how the internal parts look. The outside is ok, nothing like a sleek looking TJ09, but accaptable.

Yeah I don't get the point. If you have enough hardware to cram it into a case that large, you aren't taking it anywhere, just make it out of steel.

looks pretty ugly in my opinion... such a shame it is the same 90 degree mobo flip garbage that silvestone has got into all of their recent cases. ya it's cool but it screws the design options for the rest of the case, mostly in the fact of cooling. single 120MM exhaust is trash.... i like how they kinda kept the TJ07 look but i think they ruined the best parts of it. It would be nice to see something allot more like the traditional TJ07 with say dual 120mm's in the back, triple 120/140's at the top with space for rads, pretty much untouched bottom section and a non removable mobo tray with nice cable management like Corsair Cases have and like an all black interior. now that would be sweet....

need to see pics of the inside!

From a cooling standpoint (and simple physics), the 90 degree turn makes perfect sense... Hot air travels upwards. The only problem is the limited air intake from the bottom of the case...
I still love my Raven RV02 to death, it's by far the best case I've had (even better than the TJ10 I reviewed once), maybe apart from the HDD installation (would've prefered the RV01 version there)..
I'm looking forward to this case, apart from the fact they've seriously reduced fan-numbers both top and bottom.... But I really like the look of the thing (yes I know, I love the Raven series as well, stop hitting me)..

To be fair, Raven 2 may be the best air cooling case, but for water cooling, unfortunately, it sucks big time.

oh your totally right and the whole 90 degree flip is a great idea, im just not convinced by silverstone's implementation of it yet now if they could put another three 180MM fans on the top of the case combined with the fully vented mobo tray that would be plain awesome. but it also makes water cooling a PITA compared to something like a 800D or HAF-X

That would make for one gigantic case though... A 5870 can hardly fit inside the RV02 as it is, but I would love to see a case with 3x180mm fans at the top as well!

Didn't VoodooPC do that right before HP bought them out?

for a full tower, the weight difference is huge

i made the mistake of getting the steel version of the Xaser III super tower, the only good thing about that case was the muscle mass i gained while lugging it to quakecon.....

but even if it's aluminum, it needs wheels

I think I would have preferred that they just do some updates to the tj07 like bigger fans. Although I will wait to see some builds in it before I make a final judgement
