I have an MSI 580 and an EVGA 580. Can both of these cards receive a modified BIOS? If so, which one do I need? I'd like to be able to push them towards the 1000 mHz mark since they're both water cooled. Do they each need their original BIOS modified to unlock voltage or can I flash them both with say for example, the unlocked ASUS bios?

use my bios for both cards, just keep a backup copy of both your cards original bios using gpu-z... incase you have any warranty claims

i dont know what the bios started out as....becasue i downloaded it from the net so.....no idea...works fine though, im on water so dunno how goos the fan profiles are for stock or air coolers

Thank you very much! The bios is working awesome on my MSI. Just installed an Accelero Xtreme PLUS onto my 580 and needed some more power, and as a bonus the fan speed is unlocked to 100% as well!

Also, for anyone interested in the Accelero Xtreme PLUS, very easy installation, and GREAT performance so far. Looping Heaven is showing a drop in temps of about ~10-15*C @ 85% fan speed. Checking again with 100%.

Edit: 100% shows a maximum temp of 61*C. Total drop of 15*C over the stock cooler @ 85% speed (max default), and ~20-25*C over auto fan. Considering it's also 100% silent in my case, I think it's worth the upgrade!

(well, I really would have liked to have put the whole system under water, but too many things came up at one preventing me from doing so)

Should work without issue... Its originally an EVGA BIOS.

Yep, unlocks voltage to 1.213, and fan to 100%... Not sure how it compares to other BIOS's.
