    According to that review,

    HD6970 is priced at $370 and performs between a 570 and a 580, however, it's closer to 570.
HD6950 is priced at $300 and performs slightly worse than a 570.

Nvidia are owned, 6970's £80+ cheaper than the 580, and can get 2x 6950's for the same price, and they'll smash it, not bad i say!!

Another thing I find funny is AMD/Intel would snipe any of our Moms on a grocery run if it meant good quarterly results, and you are forever whining about what feser did?

Even in the ixbt review there with "old" possibly borked-for-6970 drivers, it looks pretty competitive especially with pricing taken into account... I'm impressed. Can't wait to see better ones with proper driver.

According to that review Nvidia still eats AMD alive when it comes down to tessellation.
Can't copy the stupid flash crap...
Basically, it's equal at low tessellation settings, but at high and extreme settings Fermi is way faster.

    Edit: thanks, Photoshop! <3

prepare a couple cups of tea for nvidia please...!!!

info for max clocks, not in par with results ^^...

HIS 6950 stable at 930Mhz Core and 5950MHz Memory.

HIS 6970 stable at 980MHz Core and 6200MHz Memory.

^^at stock voltage..., Thats with driver 8.851, beats the 580 there
The bench with GTX 580 used a higher res.

But i still cant see the relevance to performance in these heaven benchies. i still think the winner in ingame performance is 580, but the drivers are young and i belive we might see some huge improvements in later driver releases.

check my screens!! ^^ new driver released before NDA... seems as if the 6970 eats the 580 in uni bench, and that bench isnt all that cpu hungry... But yeah 2x 6950s for the price of 1x 580 and will eat its performance, yeww AMD

Price to performance is pretty good it looks like it.

I think the other guy is OcUK is right though, I can see a price jumping up after Christmas similar to what happened on the 5870.

It does look slower than gtx 580 which is not a surprise. If priced around 380-400 with the lower model 300, it really doesn't force NV to lower their price though. Its still good value, like the gtx 570. I really like the 2gb so I think that could be the deal breaker. The gtx 580 can lower its price maybe 50 dollars, but they really don't need to if they maintain performance leadership.

With such massive quantities as Goober is showing, I am pretty sure they could have launched this card a month ago, if not earlier.

Those are pretty low fan speeds for a reference cooler right?

The card is about as fast or faster than GTX570 at 2560x1600, which is nice.
10-20% faster than GTX570 at 2560x1600 in the most demanding games (Far Cry 2, Crysis, Metro, Heaven, AVP).

2560x1600 $360-370 for a 6970 that is even 10% slower than a ~$510-520 GTX 580 is a very good launch if you ask me... for the 6970.

This card looks alot better to do eyefinity with though. That extra money and enough performance that a single card is possible with most new games is nice. Yeah it was taken down, I would like a look too.

AMD's coolers are unbearable at beyond 50%... at least that was the case with 4870, 5870 and 5970. I vaguely remember trying to limit my 5870 at 35%
