    Seriously dude... you want to buy something, buy it. But answer this...
    Does Nvidia cards support 6 monitors?
    Does Nvidia cards support 7.1 HD audio over HDMI?
    No?
    Then why troll?

    Dude you listed two features one of them requires major Crossfire to be useful for games, and you have the nerve to call me a troll. And 7.1 audio over HDMI realy ? there is so many more ways to get audio, your points are laughable. Its equvalent of saying does your card have a green sticker ? no then why buy it.

    Oh and keep that warning for your self.

    Edit:
    Do you even have 6 displays and 7.1 Speaker setup

    I can't speak for him, but I've been lurking/following this thread because I have 5 monitors and nVidia isn't an option for me at all. Thanks for making the wait entertaining for me though!

    Not sure why would you direct that comment at me, never told you not to buy AMD if you need a specific single brand feature.

    I was saying it at trolls who make it out to be something vital to everyone, like this one

    As if everyone needs 6 displays from one card , it is a very tiny nich market. Same for 7.1 speaker setup over Graphics card HDMI port.

    Random gamer out of the box will have more benefit from PhysX and 3D gaming. If you go by tifosi logic you could say "why get AMD if they don't have PhysX".
    Then again some people don't care for any of that but very narrow feature set FPS/dollar.

    What is valuable to you may be **** to others and GTX580 is precisely that ****, in India where it gets bloody hot
    Cool buy what fits your needs, now why troll and post such nonsense. You do realize exact same statement can be said to you. Or anyone else.

    there is a fair bit of user preference in those things
    i think physx is currently a useless pile of crap and haven't seen it do anything of use in game except for more natural looking fog

    i would like the 5.1 hdmi sound output on my gtx480 to work better than it dose
    currently it detects the amp as a monitor so i have a invisible monitor on my desktop that some items will open on or the mouse can wonder over to
    two monitors being detected also prevents the card from down clocking correctly

    cant say 3d is of any interest to me but 3 u2711 would be nice

    as i said at the start each to there own

    i was hopping two 6970 may have been an upgrade option for me but a second gtx480 is looking more likely

    still it looks like these cards will be a decent evolution and keep some pressure on nvidia to lower prices

    I vote only one cable to my receiver, so radeon is the only option. If only nvidia would see that too.

    Correct me if I'm wrong, but I'm almost POSITIVE NVidia CAN pass sound via HDMI, just like the radeons can.... Been that way since the GT240 I believe. I know for a fact my lowly GTX 460 can do so.

    Perhaps if you took the time to research these things, you wouldn't blindly assume such nonsense?

    Wow it must be either coincidence that 480 owners are just damn insecure, or jerks, to not mind their own business and not be smartasses in threads.

    (The 470 and 580 people are okay though, way less extremists by percentage. Maybe the lesser heat dissipation does help!)

    by accident didn't see me response to you
    I''ll repeat again what the 6970 will offer more then your beloved nv580

    cost less with probably only few fps less in some games which will never be noticable
    2GB ram
    less power consumption, so cheaper in the long run
    3 monitor setup out of the box (yes we ship 25K units a year like that so I love it that ATI brings that to the plate, only need 1 gpu now)
    2 displayport + 1 hdmi + 2dvi got to love the choice without required conversion.
    able to combine with APU in the near future for free for enhanced performance.
    better cf scaling then SLI

    or yours when you see nv is dropping 50$ on the 570 and 100 on the 580 because of competition... but then you'll be no where anymore in this thread...

    comments are epic depending on what anyone would expect of a card.

    I expect slightly higher 5870 perf with much better dx11 performance with power consumption under controll, very sure i will be right and it is the right card just in time ready for the next shrink to increase perf and size while nv needs the shrink for powercontroll and size controll, that is the opposit and not so bright future of nv.

    I'll rephrase as good as sli scaling , since nv fanboys have been crying out loud for years that it was better then cf...

    From Anandtech forums (scaling performance excl. 6870):

    HD 5850 vs HD 6850 vs GTX 470 scaling at 1920x1200

    Bad Company 2:::: 72% vs 97% vs 82%
    Modern Warefare2: 38% vs 33% vs 69%
    Dirt 2::::::::::::::: 59% vs 84% vs 82%
    Far Cry 2::::::::::: 76% vs 95% vs 75%
    Anno 1404:::::::::: N/A vs 63% vs 86%
    Crysis Warhead:::: 63% vs 84% vs 62%
    Metro 2033:::::::: 84% vs 100% vs 95%
    Average: 65% (HD5850) vs 79% (HD6850) vs 79% (GTX 470)

    cf with apu

    Oh I'll be here don't you worry.

    Actually most likely I'll buy a 6970 since I'm going 3-monitor eyefinity next and eventually go crossfire too. Still I don't have delusions about GTX 580 class performance for GTX 570 price or 100$ price drops. AMD will price these according to performance.

    That would be awesome, would buy 2 580s as soon as that price comes to effect.

    Yes, you'd get audio, but when i have 8 odd terabytes with HD media all over it... i'd want lossless audio over to my receiver. Monitors, i can add more, but should i have to buy a new card, if i needed then? You see this guy below me making my point... Read it slowly, if you will and try to comprehend it. You buy what offers you more value. What is valuable to you may be to others and GTX580 is precisely that, in India where it gets bloody hot (47 Degree Celsius)! Did you see me recommending any card here? Most of us here are trying to help people make an educated and informed choice.

    I was going to wait for 6970 to compare it to 580 before i make a purchase but after some research i have found out that GTX 580 does not support bit-streaming pass-through for Dolby TrueHD or DTS-HD Master so its 6970 all th way. Whats the deal with that? the 460's have it

    Also you dont need 7.1 for good audio, 5.1 is enough with a good setup.
