These scores make no sense at all, don't understand why it's this low unless that switch has something to do with it... unless I was expecting too much to start with.

No way AMD would even release it like this, so somethings up. I wonder if Afterburner can read its utilization, that'll give us some perspective I think.

Psst.. If you look at HardOCP review, a Radeon 5870 with 2GB RAM already did that

Basically 5870 with 2x tessellation.

So far, it looks it yeah With better high resolution performance as well, which is probably down to the 2GB memory. Hopefully that corresponds to better AA and AF performance too.
