    Which Xeon?

    Hey Guys,

I'm building a new workstation which gonna double as my gaming rig, so i'm need your advise for choise of CPU.
Shall i go for the Xeon E5506 or the Xeon E5520 - I know that the E5520 has HT, but when i have two of them would i gain any perfomance jump from one to the other?

id go with the e5506, half the price and HT is really useless for gaming..

Another thing I find funny is AMD/Intel would snipe any of our Moms on a grocery run if it meant good quarterly results, and you are forever whining about what feser did?

HT is really important if you are going to do anything like video editing, or epic amounts of programs open or something.

if stuff like that does not apply get the 5506, but if it does or may I would get the 5520.

i would get the e5620. it's a westmere and about the same price as the e5520. make sure your board supports it.

Yep, with HT you would gain performance jump where you really need CPU power.

You should go for e56xx, they are 32nm with less heat/power usage, but e55xx is old 45nm. They are hot and power hungry, but the price is almost the same.

having 2 cpu's with HT will help a lot if you use 3D rendering and video editing software.
