    ECC memory is just a few dollars more than non-ECC. And when dealing w/ 12GB or 24GB of memory I'd feel a lot safer w/ error correction.

    And AFAIK it is registered ECC that takes another cycle adding more latency. Memory bandwidth is hardly the bottleneck in most applications. I think I'll be fine w/ 1333MHz ram.

    Your fine with up to 24 gig of non ecc memory as remember it's two separate banks with 12 gig each.
    I would have no issues with running 6x4 gig of DDR3-1333 ECC on this board but I don't think it will OC like regular gaming memory

    As long as it doesn't bottleneck my CPU's overclocks I don't mind if the memory isn't overclocked at all.

    Hey why is not Evga Sr-2 support dual socket 1366 Xeon W3680 3,33Ghz? only X5680 thats nasty and its same spec on them both..
    canīt understand that... price is much cheaper on W3680 3,33Ghz up to $1000 more for X5680 damn

    Because the W3680 only has one QPI link. Multiprocessor LGA1366 systems require CPU's with two QPI links.

    Easy way to remember is that for dual socket you need a chip thats either E,X,or L and 55xx or 56xx after that letter..
    Although I've heard that W5643's are dual QPI..
    Not 100% sure on that yet..

    It's getting cold, almost -10'C outside. So testing to see if it's time to goo turbo. It's a good idea to have 2 hot babies on hand when it gets colder.

    Just started testing, and I need to work more on this before deciding to keep it, because CB 11.5 is not scoring as expected. Maybe that's because only 4C/8T are are running at top speed, but CB still seams fishy to me.
    It's fun testing anyways, and so far so good.

    2 x X5650 @4.4GHz(200x22) 1.28v

    EDIT: here is SB 11.5. I don't like that score at all. My good old non-turbo @3.8GHz(200x19) would score almost the same. Still looking to see why.

    Why run SuperPi??? It's only one thread... Show something multi-threaded like wprime.

    ^^ wPrime is not scoring as expected either.

    Tried different BCLK to see if CB 11.5 can score better, but 201 didn't help.
    Somehow, something is bugging the turbo-performance, still looking to see what.

    I've been looking more into this, and C-state seams to be one of the factors bugging the turbo-performance.

    With C-state=enabled, it ends up as 22x, x21, x20 (each for 2 cores per CPU) for desktop-use and single-threated applications (including SuperPi).
    But all cores falls back to x20 under full-load (including in CB 11.5 and wPrime)

    With C-state=disabled, all cores ends up with x20, all the time. But the strange part; this @4GHz scores slightly better than that @4.4GHz under full load.

    I don't think C-state is the whole story, because none of them scoring good under full load (compared to the same speed with non-turbo).

    I'm still looking to see what's going on, but as it's, using turbo (with the extra vCore-requirement) doesn't seams to be a good move for multi-threated applications, for now.

    Only running on air at the moment but 3.8GHz seems stable enough. Still have a lot more tweaking to do though. One thing I noticed is how nice and cool they run. ~55C load. I think the watercooling I will be throwing on them is going to be a complete waste.

    Also anyone else have issues w/ their SR-2s dropping DIMMs with certain DRAM ratios, MCH straps, uncore as well as certain memory timings?

    It is impossible for me to run 800MHz memory ratio without half of my ram disappearing.

    That little cute case reminds me about my SR-2 inside the huge SilverStone FT01, LOL.
    But seriously, that looks like a good and solid case.

    I've seen it too, but a reboot fixes it, almost all the time.
    I almost never had this problem with 6x2GB, but I've seen it booting with 16GB (out of 18GB) a few times after going to 3x2GB + 3x4GB. Both at 1600MHz 7-8-7-20 1.65v (load, 1.61v BOIS set).

    This seams to be some kind of bug, because the RAM is perfectly stable, and my 2GB-skits (which one of them tends to disappear) are actually rated for better timings. For me a reboot will fix it, almost all the time.

    I tried to boot at 2000MHZ, just for fun, but then I got only 6GB out of 18GB. So I guess it's important to use the right speed and timing.

    Reboot definitely don't fix it for me. Anytime I run w/ the DRAM ratio @ 800MHz, I lose half of my DIMMS. I drop the uncore below 12x, I lose at least one DIMM. @ 1066MHz they work perfectly fine, but that overclocks my ram to a higher clock than they seem to be stable at.

    I have another couple sets of ram and another SR-2 on the way, hopefully either of these let me determine what the issue is.

    My Umcore is stuck at x18 and I wouldn't know for sure, but i don't think lowering it would help with missing RAM.
    When I tried 9-9-9, it didn't like it at all. It seams to like CL7 and CL8 much better. If you are using timings in that screen-shot, maybe you could try another CL, and raise tRFC too, to see if it helps.
    I don't think 1066MHz (with tight timing) will make a big different. I didn't try that, but when I tried a few different speeds and timing, all of them seams to have same performance, (15.5k read +/- a little different, according to Everest), anyways. What kind of performance do you get?

    What is your RAM's rated speed and timing?

    EDIT:
    BTW, when I look at the details on your CPU, it looks exactly like mine (at first impression), with different stepping.
    I think I've found the missing name of my 000-unknown babies, but my stepping is running with much less vCore

    Man this board is so damn buggy.

    CPU0 alone, perfectly stable.
    CPU1 alone, perfectly stable.
    Enable both, won't even boot in to Windows.

    However I have got it booting into Windows at a lower clockspeed now, however USB is dropping out contantly. Is there a solution to this somewhere?

    there's only 4 option

    auto
    800
    1066
    1333

    whatever i choose the divider stays at 2:8
    It's:
    800 = 2:6
    1066 = 2:8
    1333 = 2:10

    Put the MCH-strap on Auto, and see what happens.
