    Hey Guys,

I am really curious if the new EK-FB Block for the UD7 v2 will also be able compatable with the UD5 v2.

From what I can see there is basically no difference between the 2 boards.

Does anyone know if the boards are physically different ??

    Cheers

I was able to get the i7 950 cpu from newegg for 279.99 - 70 = 209.99 from that newegg ironegg guarantee by price matching microcenter!

I'm just a bit sad that one you use their guarantee once, you can't use it again.

Thanks in advance to anyone who can help.
To my knowledge in the U.S. they no longer sell rev 1.0 at newgg.com just rev 2.0.

GOOC and fc3 are basicly that same bios. However, the FC3 bios is better more useful because all the options in the bios work and you can see the IRQ resource screen at boot. I'd found when trying to OC I disabled some of the Sata ports I was not using and was able to achieve a more stable OC. At the moment though the board is early in the bios life cycle. I'm sure there will be better bioses to come.

There is no physical difference between the ud5 and ud7 rev 1.0, there is when one or the other is rev 1.0.

the best thing to do if you do not wanna write out all your info is to put up the voltage screen from easytune.

Will do just DL Easytune and installed it! Need to start from scratch since my last OC was not stable, after 5 hours of Prime95 I got BSOD

I ll post my new BIOSsetup once I get a stable OC "4.2MHz" is my goal nothing more

BTW is it possible to delete my entry in UD5/UD7 Owners Club OFFICIAL SPREAD SHEET please pressed enter by mistake, entry #33.

    Thx

    Question

    Hi Forum member,

First off all tanks for the great info contribution on GA-X58A.

I decided to build my new PC on GA-X58A-UD5 (or UD7). After a long reading to web forums, review etc I finally found this thread and so I would like to ask for some advices to you that already own this great board.

The target is a 24/7 power desktop with good gaming capabilities and OC around 4.0 Ghz.

The main components I plan to use are:

    CPU: Intel Core i7 LGA1366 950 3.06GHz 8Mb Boxed
    MOBO: GIGABYTE 1366 GA-X58A-UD5 REV 2.0
    Power: CORSAIR 850W CMPSU-850HXEU
    CPU Cooler: NOCTUA NH-U12P SE2
    RAM: CORSAIR DDR3 6GB (kit 3x2GB) 1600MHz PC-12800 Dominator CL7
    Video: Sapphire HD5870 1GB Vapor-X Sapphire HD5850 1GB Toxic.

    Now some questions:

UD5 vs. UD7: because UD7 rev2 lost the 24 phase (in favor of UD9) it looks like to me that there is no reason to go for the UD7 (although the price difference is only around 30 euro). Am I right?

NOCTUA NH-U12P SE2 is my first choice but I heard good thing also for Cooler Master CPU Cooler V8 and OCZ Vendetta2. Do you have any feedback?
Do the Noctua 12P SE interferes with some Memory slot?

Is there better RAM than the one I choose?
What about 3x4GB? I read somewhere on the net that they not works in this MOBO. Any experience?
Better 6x2 GB or 3x4 GB?

    Will 850W Power supply be enough (I will have also 4/5 x SATA2 HD, 1 x SATA DVDRW, 5 x 9 cm fan and 2 x 12 cm fan)?

Video, maybe a bit OT here , I’ve been ‘til now an NVIDIA user but I do not found right now a good balance between price and value; 4xx series seams to have some drawbacks (temperature, power, noise, issue with some application etc); 2xx series is good but old for a computer built today: the HD5850 (and in particular the model I choose) seams to me the best value for money trade-off.

Finally, how good is the built-in audio device?
Is it worth to use an old PCI SoundBlaster Live or better to buy a new PCI-E sound card?

If you get here... Tanks you for reading.
Any hint will really be appreciated.

    Ciao.

If you want a board with stock water cooling then get the ud7. If your not gonna water cool the board get the ud5. You want a lot of graphic cards get the ud9. That's pretty much what it boils down to.

    950 GA X58A ud5 v2.0

Well, I m having problems OC my CPU to 4.2Mhz! Problem is when I load the W7, and start IntelBurn test to run 3 passes at maximum and 8 treads it freezes after 3 seconds and I need to reboot manually.

Here is my BIOS setup so far using the 3 step OC Guide from MiaHallen:

    CPU Clock : 21X
    QPI Clock : Auto
    Uncore Clock : X16
    BCLK Freq : 200
    System Mem multi : 8.0
    CPU Clock Drive : 800mV
PCI Express Clock drive : 900mV
    Load line calibration : L2
    CPU Vcore : 1.28125V
    QPI/VTT : 1.275V
    CPU PLL : Auto
    PCIE : Auto
    QPI PLL : Auto
    IOH COre : 1.100V
    ICH I/O : Auto
    ICH Core : Auto
    Dram Voltage : 1.660V

I had a BSOD error 0x00000124 @ 21X BLCK 190 so I uped the QPI/Vtt by 0.025V for a total of 0.050V, started up W7 ran intelburn test and passed, then went on to uping the BLCK to 200 got error 0x00000101 and uped the Vcore by 0.025V, loaded W7 and it just froze no BSOD rebooted added 0.025V more in the vcore and still get the same error! Do I keep on uping the vcore till it loads or not?

    Should I also uped the QPI/Vtt 0.025V also ?

    Thanks

0x9C = QPI/VTT most likely, but increasing vcore has helped in some instances

awesome! try pushing it a bit farther. I find that IBT is a lot faster as is linx and gets the processor hotter.

I tried 4.3 by raising the BLCK, but hit 85degrees on realtemp using IBT
I might switch to a real water cooling system in the near future, this Corsair H70 hybrid water cooling system is good but does not compare to a real water cooling system.

yea that is true the corsair H series wasn't meant to handle a i7 bloomfield OCed.

    I'm in need of help

    I have Gigabyte GA-X58A-UD5 rev 2.0 (BIOS version FB), i7 950, 6GB ram

128GB Crucial RealSSD C300 (CTFDDAC128MAG-1G1) (rev 0002) is connected to GSATA3_6/7 (SATA 6Gb/s Connectors, Controlled by Marvell 9128) it is connected to the top of the first white one next to the blue ones

GSATA 6_7/IDE Controller is enabled,GSATA 6_7/IDE Ctrl Mode sset to AHCI

I manage to go as far installing windows 7 ultimate X64 where it says copying and expanding etc.

but when it comes to rebooting I get a disk read error (press ctrl+alt+del) and I have to restart.

I had to connect it to another SATA port to install windows, but when I put it back it fails wit hte same error message.
