    aquagraFX GTX580 full cover block

    New card, new block

    First impressions:

    (water temperature: 34°C)

Almost finished. A few last tests and one or two minor changes and the final production can begin. With a bit luck we can ship the first blocks by the end of this week. Price is not known so far but will be not much different compared to the GTX480 block.

I like the shape that comes from 480 block. I'm guessing performancy/resistance wise it's similar to 480 predecessor?

Should be almost identical since this block is based on the GTX480 block with only some specific changes for the GTX580 card.

With almost similar internals i'm guessing probably we will see a bit lower temps, as 580 also dissipates less heat (by arround 10W by Nvidia, and by 30-40W in reality by first testers) then 480.

Maybe stupid to ask but I'll ask anyways since they look identical except for the two standoffs that are now threaded into the block. Are they interchangeable? Will a 480 block work on a 580?

If not, you can add question to Shoggy what exactly differs and for how much (eg. height of elements somewhere or any other dimension) - who knows, maybe simple dremeling somewhere can fix 480 block to be usuable on new cards aswell?

As for differences, then they imho exist. I saw also news about EK developing block for 580. If those were compatible, probably news would sound "we tested 480 block and found it to be compatible with 580 aswell".

A quick and rough ('cause that's all you'll ever get from me) correction of perspective, and there are only three clear differences from the images, all located in the power area. The 580 block doesn't have it's corner cut off, there is a step over what I presume to be the power fets will be, and the wiggling section on the far left appears to have a different layout. If the step at the fets is raised on the left in the 580 then it's a thicker thermal pad job, if the cut to the right is deeper... that'll need milling, and I don't know how much of an effect the wriggly bit will have.

This is all just supposition understand, a difference of as little as 0.5mm in the depth between a couple of sections could be enough to scupper cross use.

I love the way these blocks look, although I hate the copper color because it never works with PC color schemes imo.

So apply a patina and lacquer, make copper more or less any colour you want.

picking up 2 of these babys!

Another thing I find funny is AMD/Intel would snipe any of our Moms on a grocery run if it meant good quarterly results, and you are forever whining about what feser did?

I was just talking with a representative from the manufacturer, and he says to either order direct from them in Germany or to try ordering from Sidewinder Computers.

Short info on the compatibility of our GTX 580 block for the new GTX 570 card. Nvidia allows own designs of the GTX 570 but in the first time we will see cards based on the GTX 580 PCB which means that our block can be used with these cards too

    Water temperature was 39,1°C.

    Thanks for the tip!

Still are you planning to release separate waterblock for GTX570 or you gonna leave it as is?
