Because YOU have one? Or that the public will have some?

Alright, guess we'll see. But if there aren't abundant quantities by year end he can still spin it his way. And he seems to be right about the paper launch part at least.

I wonder if Nvidia's guidelines let them bench the 580 against OC'd 480's

Oh I see, your picking up on his his obviously flippant & exaggerative language, and plan to claim a win for team Nvidia based on a technicality.

    No wonder you got cards...

    Edit:
In fact you could 'win', just by selling your review card on the bay!

SKYMTL is fair, to the point of quoting sections from AMD or nvidia's review guides about auxiliary benefits like CUDA and Stream.

There's nothing wrong with it, if testing on each of the quoted sections follows. But, quite transparently, things like folding are only tested on budget cards, where the review guide most likely is explicitly asking for such things.

    This

I'm Canadian, but the reason I really enjoy their reviews is cause of the quality, and not cause they're from Toronto. HWC is prolly my fave hardware site at the moment. They have easy to read and comprehend reviews (I really like their performance charts), they got a lot of nice pics (I like how they show the heatsink of the GPU's they test for example), and their rating system is simple yet very meaningful. They got good video reviews, too.

I wish he'd bring back 'a closer look.' One of the reasons why I went to HC more and more is because of the teardowns they did.

What was this 'closer look' you speak of?

He used to disassemble the card and analyze the heatsink.

Ooooooooooh yeah man that's what I was talking about, I had just forgotten the name. But yeah, I noticed that they haven't been showcasing the heatsink recently, I didn't think it was permanent...I hope it's not, cause that's one of the things I enjoyed most.

Like check out the Ares review:

I see nothing exaggerated about it. He specifically said: No cards available this year.

What technicality do you speak of? A hard launch is a hard launch.

All upcoming reviews of NVIDIA cards will have folding benchmarks if there is enough time for me to run through at least 24 hours of WUs.

My pal said the other day that in this economy there was NO jobs available, I said he was full of **** and showed him an advert for McDonald's.

Do you actually think my friend meant there was ZERO job vacancies, or was he simply exaggerating the fact career opportunities were slim?

Since Charlie's words obviously aren't good enough and we need to find some deeper meaning in them I wonder what would constitute him being right this time around. His statements seem pretty clear to me. There will be no cards this year and it will be a paper launch (i.e. no cards available for sale come review day). Where's the ambiguity in that?

In other news - new tessellation demo from nVidia, same one they showed at GTC I think. Geforce only as it's using CUDA for something (maybe the scene generation).

Lol, sounds like a few Nvidia fans are desperate to prove Charlie is wrong about something and have resorted to nitpicking!

    Talk about splitting hairs.

This isn't nit picking in the least. It is holding a supposed "reporter" to the same ideals all others are.

We will see who is correct and who isn't quite soon.

And as a Charlie/AMD fan you can't support your original and baseless argument so you start calling people names? Nice move....

    Just

I'd rather a reporter not hide their bias than to pretend to be impartial, because at least you know where they stand.

Something tells me you don't like Charlie?

The entire point of reporting is to discard bias. That's all I have to say on that point.

Dude you're retarded...SKYMTL is a somebody in the hardware community and provides excellent reviews that have an effect on the product. Companies like Nvidia and ATI value a "Dam Good" award. On the other hand, who are you? A nobody, that's who. You along with your boy lover Charlie are just clowns. Charlie is a cancer in the hardware community...ppl are ashamed to link to him, let alone agree with him, and for good reason. He is extremely biased and nothing but a gossip queen. He's a disgusting blob of a human being and deserves to be put out of his misery.

Let me guess, you're gonna say Charlie is "real" and "legit", right? You're gonna pull the good ol' anti-mainstream, corruption, teenage angst card? Don't bother, I don't care about you enough to respond. Only just enough to complete this post.

btw if a review has an effect on a product .. a site with a bias could pull an unjournalistic move and be more biased toward someone else for corporate reason ..

and only having a hardware site is no means of being a somebody ... everyone is somebody btw

and the rest of your post is a piece of biased anger .... see what i did there

Way way over the top, why so much anger? I agree that Hardware Canucks is a very good site, I personally enjoy the reviews there. But you are not doing yourself any favors with posts like this.

    Oh and first post here.

I dont see hwc being biased. thats not to say that skymtl has no preference, most people are inclined to like one company or another due to their personal reasons, but his site and reviews all seem as fair as they come to me.
