    Credit where credit's due ...

I'm not really the person who posts a thread on a gazillion forums just to show off my latest overclocking results. Maybe on the HWBOT forums I post a bit more often, but that's just because I'm there all the time ... . However, once in a while I like to express my experience with some hardware. Be it to show some modifications, to show some overclocking results or just to say 'hey, this is nice'.

Well, this is one of those times.

Last saturday, the Crosshair 4 Extreme found it's way to my hands (or rather: was forced into my hands by Leeghoofd). Having had not SO great experiences with the Formula, I figured this was another hyped board that could only do magic with dedicated CPUs and memory kits. In addition, it's just way too expensive. So, expectations weren't that high. But then, this happened.

    (More stuff here: http://hwbot.org/forum/showthread.php?t=12695)

I know, I know ... this is just one sample and bla bla bla. In the end, this is a board that made me go 'holy ' during a Pi32M ... and that doesn't happen very often. With a bit of tuning, there might be even more in it (I'm genuinly scared to test on LN2 for higher clocks). Hopefully Leeghoofd will be so kind to lend me the Gskill Flares for a bit of DDR3-2200 action at high HTT.

no, really good man, with aircooling I think? 4600 MHz 32M with 1090T is briliante . So...must to find Cross IV Extreme, if will better than my Cross IV Formula .

Sempron < 1.4V = air cooling (mounting = thermal paste 'suction')
    Sempron > 1.5V = single stage (~ -20°C)
    Thuban = single stage (~ -20°C)

I'm not trying to steal any credit Pieter-Jan and maybe i 'm missing something but i don't see why you're so impressed by the 32M efficiency to be honest.

Here's 32M on my Crosshair IV Formula on a completely untweaked Windows 7 64 bit:

Damn, those semprons look like a lot of fun

Would you say its a step up from the formula, if you disregard dodgy bios?

I'm not impressed by the efficiency. I'm impressed by the 415HTT with a DDR3 board

    Ah, ok.

Even though 415HTT is pretty impressive for a DDR3 board, it does not give any performance gain over 200MHz HTT unfortunately. (like FSB would)

The only use it has is for non Black Edition CPU's to clock higher but hey, who's dumb enough to buy those if you plan to go subzero?

eee how close minded of a view it can be ... someone might want to go subzero on non black edition chip to crank out more htt out of the chip through wichever method he might know off ....

and increasing the htt does increase the ram speed wich would allow finer tuning of the mem speed ... but hey i dont see a point to use the base clock instead of just using the multi

    btw massman nice htt clocks

impressive htt!! like the sempron as well. the mobo is nice for relatively cheap cpus like as 1055T.

funny that i say this when it is expensive mobo and I hope more mobos do that!

I tried running PCMark05 with Sempron 140 on this board, but with PCI-E raid controller plugged in the system would hang every time I adjusted the bclk/htt, be it via ROG Connect, setfsb or TurboV. Such a shame
