    Well from what I remember when reading through this thread (all of it and not skim reading ) can't say I remember any mention of peeps using just a 20 pin.
    Could always buy an adaptor; http://www.maplin.co.uk/Module.aspx?...C=SO&U=strat15

    Edit: whoops that one is the wrong way around - you get the idea

    After pulling out my 275 to test in my I7 yesterday I also switch out a 1tb drive I'd been using as a "backup" to the sossaman. I tried connecting it to one of the bottom sata ports (circled in red) but the drive wasn't detected. Tried one of the other two (circled in green) and it worked fine. Daft question but do I need like a certain driver to make those work?

    I also tried a cheapo pci raid card in the pcix slot but that didn't work either. I assume that this is because the board is picky about add in cards? Would anyone be able to point out a card they're using / is known to work?

    have any of you guys bought from - http://www.centrix-intl.com/details.asp?productid=4675 (i think the link was posted by old chap a few pages ago)

    if the chips from http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.d...=STRK:MEWAX:IT are so cheap (also i think posted by oldchap) then it would be rude not to

    [edit] ffs - didnt see that ebay listing has run out [/edit]

    the bottom four SATA ports should be in non-RAID mode (check BIOS).. what OS u running? win7 should either have drivers already or get them from update..

    I put in a cheap PCI silicon image 3114 card into PCIX & it worked flawlessly

    Running xp 32-bit. The raid card I tried was also a Silicon Image.

    I'll have a snoop around in the bios and see what's what.

    @ Origin_Unknown

    I think that is where everyone gets their boards from. Only a problem if you're outside the US as shipping is insane.

    In other news, still stupid prices on the cpu's I see;

    http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/2-0GHZ-INTEL-D...item5d2a02f366

    I should've snapped up those 20 quid ones when I had the chance

    Just checking these are the right settings.

    Ide configuration;

    Onboard 2 port sata channels [enabled]
    Configure sata as raid [disabled]

    Pci configuratioin;

    Onboard 4 port sata [enabled]
    Onboard 4 port sata ROM [enabled]
    Onboard 4 port sata Mode [native sata]
    Pci priority arbitration [disabled]
    MMIO above 4gb [disabled]

    Not sure what those last two are. The os hdd is an ide. Good to go?

    XP32? in that case u'll have to download drivers - for both the card & the onboard.. the onboard happens to be silicon image as well: SI3124

    Disabling the sata rom also disables the sata mode. I'll leave the rom enabled this time and try it again without.

    I'll have a look for the drivers too. Wouldn't have a link handy would you?

    Back again.

    I'm after some more ram for mine to trouble shoot my gtx 275. I just wanted to check that these are the correct type;

    http://shop.ebay.co.uk/?_from=R40&_t...All-Categories

    I need the 1gb modules right?

    Looking through that list the vast majority work out around a tenner each. £10.00 a stick seems a little high to me?

    so... I gave sossaman away.. it was a combined wedding/Christmas pressie to a best mate of mine.. he likes 'bling' so..yeah
    final config: along with the intel mobo, 4x1GB ram & 2x 2ghz cpus, I added a 74gb raptor, 2tb hdd & a SI3114 card.. all housed in a TT Armor+, with wheels!

    parting shots:

    I ended up sticking to the CoolJag Falcon Mini's for the CPUs.. & added the stock green LED fans that came with them, which I hadnt done before.
    the reason I gave it away was, I cannot justify keeping a PC that only serves one purpose (I dont pay the bills around here) & I had 'out-grown' sossys capabilities: I needed something which could take more HDDs.. plus the 32-bit only was a lil annoying

    it was fun while it lasted

    I can understand giving things away.
    Two weeks ago I paid $420.00 for a Saffire 5970 card and gave it away last night but thats a video card not a SAMMY!
