The 8800gtx when it was released in 2006 was roughly 4x faster than any single GPU ATi card on the market, and most reviews went with comparing ATi's X1950 XTX in crossfire to a single 8800gtx in an attempt to make ATi look like less of a joke.

In the 3 reviews I just glanced over from 2006, none of them actually compared 2x 8800gtx in SLI with the crossfire x1950 XTX cards in an apples to apples comparison when the card was definitely capable of 2x SLI and even 3x SLI.

I guess the reviewers were perhaps experiencing some bias after the previous 6 months of parading around with their favorite ATi cards, but were stopped mid stride by big green. hehe. I guess things never change.

Stop with your terrible logic. We compare dual slot, single PCIE cards to dual slot, single PCIE cards.

I really am confused by this post.

What are you trying to say, because I remember a 1950xt being a dual slot card.

Its a bit confusing the point your trying to make.

It really was kind of a weird comparison(at least if they are the only two setup in the comparison) to compare a single card to two cards combined.

Simple, one guy defines dominance as a single gpu card pwning a dual gpu setup/card. Another guy defines dominance by being on top as long as it uses 1 pci-e slot.

Tbh, I don't really get what Andrew_LB is replying to anyway. kuroikenshi merely said 5970 is in a league of its own.

EDIT: Personally, I'll just shut my mouth. No point getting bothered with this . It's just messing with my mind.

so, in summary, there is no hd6000 delay and the g80 kicked ass for a long time.

He's echoing the mantra of nvidia fans who love to say the 5970 cannot be compared to single GPU cards even though you can purchase it and stick it into your PCIE slot.

Back then the 8800GTX / Ultra was the best card to get, period.
