I ordered an 1880IX-12 last week from Provantage due to their low price! Not sure when I'm going to see it though. The order is still processing.

Anyway, I'd like to throw a bunch of cheap Intel drives at it but I'm still looking for a place that sells the 4GB RAM chip.

@Serra or anyone else who knows- have you found a US distributor for the 4GB chip yet?

I'd even be willing to go down to 667MHz instead of the 800Mhz if its available.
    MainGamer PC----Intel Core i7 - 6GB Corsair 1600 DDR3 - Foxconn Bloodrage - ATI 6950 Modded - Areca 1880ix-12 - 2 x 120GB G.Skill Phoenix SSD - 2 x 80GB Intel G2 - Lian LI PCA05 - Seasonic M12D 850W PSU

Based on 1880ix-12 availability (or lack there of) from other etailers - i wonder if there is production/dissemination problem of some kind.

I have not had a chance to really look into it yet. Does anyone have a link to a list of compatible memory? I might be able to find some from some distributors I have access to through work.

The rumor I heard (and I will stress I am stating it is a rumor, not fact) is that the cards aren't in full mass production yet, but I'm not sure why not.

Unigen 4gb stick from Areca is the way. It works, it is expensive. Hll, the 1880ix is expensive, so who cares

    Go with Unigen

Very nice nizzen. that controller has matured nicely.

cache availability in the US remains unchanged fellas.

I think demand for these cards has outstripped supply big time. the wait for them didnt help of course.

    steve, anvil, anyone?--which would you get? 5x vertex2 or 5x c300?
anvil, i know you have tested both...your final word?

@serra this will be very interesting, your card !

Looking at the pcmv scores that CT has been pulling down with ancient vertex gen 1s and 920 (no 6 core nor improved instruction set) -
It looks like the 1880 with 4GB cache just screams with whatever you attach it to.
cmon steve, gimme some credit, it helps that i am persistent....

2+ weeks ago contacted Areca Australian disty, they said 1880ix-8 and 1880ix-16 instock in a week. But 1880ix-12 no stock for at least 1 month. So 1880ix-12 maybe alot of demand for it even though it was only AUD$100 less than 1880ix-16

    1880ix-12 = AUD$1160
    1880ix-16 = AUD$1270

    AUD$1 = US$0.96

    @ CT

I think the jury is still out but based on what I've seen so far if I was to buy a new set of SSDs right now and $ no object, I think I would go 5x C300/256.

1880/4GB/5xC300/256 might be faster than 1231/4GB/5xAcard9010s in pcmv not sure yet.

@ Mr Nizzen - very nice! you always had a way with the 1680 I could never match!

Hi. I've been lurking hardcore for awhile, very jealous! Grats to everyone on their pcmv successes, youngpro/steve/dinos/comp/nizzen.

I've been very close a couple times to pulling the trigger on the 1880, it would only be for vantage and honestly I can't really justify it. If I could take a shot at #1 that would be one thing, but I can't compete with 5.5+ghz.

Having a lot of fun watching you guys though, good luck!

The 1880 and the C300s looks like a nice pair

AS SSD is more or less showing the Arecas performance, I'll throw it in anyways.

    @ Mr Anvil - gaaa! - the C300s sure like the 1880!
    And only 3xR0 64's too!
    If I was Mr mbreslin - I ... could ... not ... resist!
Please tell me this is with 4GB cache?
    CPU clock? pcie clock?

You might pay more for the controller cache than your 3xR0 C300/64 array!

    Steve

    Yes it's the 4GB cache

PCIe 107, which is the max I've been able to get stable. (the 1880 doesn't boot at 109)
    CPU 32x133

iow, this thing is merely running at "idle speed"

At 5200 cpu speed your pcmv score would be 35k+ and using just 3 drives!

    Steve,

It doesn't feel like it's faster than the 9260 in day-to-day use, as mbreslin stated, it would only help him in pcmv scores.

The 9260 w/ FP is outperforming the 1880 on large datasets.
For desktop/workstation I'd probably get the 1880 anyways , the 4GB stick is the key to it's performance.

    Anvil,

    I think you're right on.
Depending on what you're doing a good pair of SF on ich10 with wbc enabled would feel just as fast.
    edit - SF or C300s
