    Just got a C300 64GB to replace my Vertex2 60GB (which I've been happy with by the way) as a single OS-disk on SATA3.

    Just hoked it to SATS3 on EVGA SR-2, and quick format, and nothing else. This is a empty/new drive, how does it looks like?

    It looks great, speed is as advertised.

    Why did you replace the Vertex 2?

    Good to hear Anvil

    Just for fun, LOL, and because I wanted c300 but couldn't find in stock when I got the OCZ. I will use the Vertex2 on my other build, so it won't be a waste .

    I'm going to secure erase it, and install w7 64bi on it soon, and I hope it will keep as good.

    There should be no need to secure erase the drive. A quick format in Windows 7 should activate TRIM on all the needed cells.

    Good to hear.
    This is my first non-OCZ SSD. So I was actually wondering how good the garbage collection works on C300. Good to know it works.

    For fun, is a valid excuse

    I had to get a few of them myself
    Will be doing some tests this weekend, maybe a comparison of the Vertex 2 60 vs the C300 64GB both single and in raid.

    Anvil I’m starting to think you are collectomaniac (Just joking, it’s great to have someone on the forum that has so many different ssd’s) I’ll be playing with a C300 myself soon but only to help someone build a PC.

    Evaluating storage is part of my job, otherwise I'd agree with you 100%

    BTW, I've just installed one of your favourite drives, the Momentus XT.

    @Nizzen,
    What stripe size?

    Evaluating storage is part of my job: That's not a job

    I've just installed one of your favourite drives, the Momentus XT: I'm still waiting for a 500GB to come in stock Here's the plan. My wife ended up with one on my M drives and I want it back. I'm kind of hoping if I swap it with the Momentus XT she will not notice. It should be good for all day on Facebook

    Seriously though what do you think of it?

    Give me a few days and I'll let you know

    The first thing I noticed was that it spins
    (vibrations quickly spread to the laptop chassis, I don't think it vibrates more than the average 7200rpm 2.5" drive though)

    Next, it feels snappy.

    @Nizzen,

    Have you tried other (larger) stripes?

    Sounds hopeful. Now will the Intel Data Migration Software work in reverse.........

    (Will you start a thread on the Momentus XT when you have played with it for a while)

    Almost the same results in ASS and CDM with 128k stripe. So i thing either stripe you'll take, you will not notice the difference

    But this is extremesystems so every points counts

    I see i have missed some stuff here. Back on new HW after a summer vacation from XS. Now on new GB AM3 890FX 850SB mobo with 1090T
    Not really extreme, but definetly nice value upgrade.

    Long time no see Gulllars, Welcome Back. Anvil has been doing a good job, and with Nizzen posting too, the whole SSD-gang from the old forum seams to be here now.

    I've just installed w7 64bit on C300 64GB. AHCI mode on SATS3, EVGA SR-2 with default MB-drivers. I'll soon be stalling more SW, but so far so good. It doesn't show much sign of degrading compared to empty drive

    ATM i'm having a bit of difficulty with an x25-M G1 on SB850 with AMD SATA drivers in AHCI mode, basically 13MB/s 4K QD1, and about 22MB/s for 4K QD64 (from AS SSD), the rest of the numbers are OK. I think i'll try RAID mode, and if that doesn't work, roll-back to MSAHCI. I installed the AMD SATA drivers during os install, so i haven't tested msahci on it.

    My Intel G1 is working fine with default M$ AHCI drivers here:

    I then installed the AMD drivers, lost a bit of Seq Read and 512k Read, but won ~5MB/s on 4K read. I think it's better this way.
