RDP will always trash your GPU.
UltraVNC works a charm and is free.
I have my basement machine set up so I don't even need a monitor attached.
I reboot it once every couple of weeks while connected via UltraVNC just to make sure any memory leaks get recovered.
Wait three minutes and I can connect to it again tp make sure everything is up and running.
