Well thats good news. Planning to get a 990x and don't want to get a new motherboard as she's ok!! Hope the new beta bios fixes some of the issues with oc on the 980x and 990x and make it as it should be on a board of this type!! Thaks Bingo.

But since BIOS 1307, it works fine if I don't cold boot. So recently I came across the post in the Asus forum where people claim to still have cold boot issues at stock and at overclocked speeds.

Cold boot basically means you were using your computer without rebooting once after Windows is loaded. So After I turn on my computer and Windows is loaded, I reboot, load Windows and then use my computer and I experience no crash.

I usually just hibernate if I want to turn my computer off, and that has been working fine for months. So obviously it doesn't seem like a hardware problem to me but just need BIOS to correct the issues. So maybe it is an issue with memory compatibility. I have done everything to narrow down to either it's an issue with this board or my OCZ Reaper 1866 and seems most likely is this board. Very disappointing for a motherboard I paid $330 back in 2009.
I also have this cold boot bug since i got this motherboard, will it be ever fixed mr.bingo 13?

    Anything for the P5E3?
Quite a few issues still need to be resolved....
    QX9650 compatibility..
    ACPI Bug....
    PCI-E Bug....
GTX 295 Single PCB Cold Boot Rare Bug....
    8GB issues...
HTC Desire USB compatibility bug (only works in select rear USB ports, yet works perfectly on ALL USB ports on a Dell XPS 8100, Samsung R610, and Samsung R780)
I have been onto technical support about these issues, yet have not heard from them in nearly a month now.
    ASUS are woeful

I have the same retarded problem with my Rampage II Gene. I have a 1600MHz OCZ Platinum CL7 RAM (which is even listed on QVL) and a 1307 BIOS, yet my system will crash on every cold boot with stock settings. When it restarts, all is fine and goes to WIndows no problem. This started happening few months ago without any logical reason.
It also seems to become stupidly unstable during normal usage just like that, without any apparent reason unless i set my speedy OCZ Platinum to 1066MHz and Auto voltage for VDIMM (or forced 1.65V). But why on Earth would i run a 1600MHz rated RAM at only 1066MHz? If i set it to 1600MHz and AUTO VDIMM, RAM voltage is set to 1.80V. WTF!? I thought these boards were suppose to support 1600MHz RAM out of the box and 1.80V for DIMM seems like very high considering by Intel specs it shouldn't be more than 1.65V. I'm confused but i'm not even sure if i'm entitled for RMA of the board because of this. I was very happy with my Gene but now it's causing me just troubles and because of that i now have to run RAM at 1066MHz just to have a stable system (without cold boot issue and stupid random BSOD's during gaming).
It's annoying to pay almost 260 EUR (at that time) for a board that doesn't work right anymore...

If i understand it right, bingo13 works for ASUS. If so, please tell me what to do and if i'm entitled to RMA in such case if BIOS can't solve it. Some even said the board is leaking voltage somewhere so that's why all the instability and requirement for higher voltages. But i wasn't even running it overclocked unless if you consider 1600MHz RAM as overclocking. But it's rated at that speed by OCZ anyway... Anyway, i just want my system back like it was when i assembled it like a year ago.

I'd also like to have a tool that can downgrade BIOS. There is an option inside ASUS BIOS updater to do that, but it does exactly nothing as it will refuse to downgrade.

bingo13, any chance to get usable fan control through bios on r3e?

this could be implemented on all asus boards easy. have a look on my posting here: http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/...&postcount=127

probably a chance to pull ahead against other manufacturers ...

anyway, still impressed on the support and ongoing bios maintenance here. this was one of the reasons for selecting the r3e. looked at evga before but found too many unhappy users in the evga forums complaining about lack of bios support. returned the already bought evga board and switched to the r3e instead.

I tested 0011 @ LN2, it is so good! 6.045G passed 06 CPU test, performance is good too! May go to have some 2D benches to see how much 2D is improved after refilled.
But CBB go back to -140C, always stopped at RAM detect, but with 704, I can cold boot @ -180C.

Yeah, I would love to hear the status on the P6T bios update myself. This seems to be dragging on forever.
