    essentially that is what they have now but with some baggage. each register is still going to be 128bits with 12 read and 4 write ports. this is about 45% of the shader unit and it contributes a lot of power.
    I've read your SP's as SPU's, hope you don't mind

    Based on my understanding of the rumors floating around, I think what LordEC911
    is talking about is ATI/AMD making one more 10 SIMD engine part on the chip.

    Today we have, on the 5870, 20 SIMD engines, 16 wide and each with 5 SP's.
    If I remember correctly the SIMD engines are physically grouped as 10 each,
    like they were two times a 5770.
    This gives us 20x16x5 --> 1600 SP's

    Tomorrow we have, if the 6870 rumors of today pans out, 1920 SP's. If we
    think that ATI/AMD made things the easy way, then we perhaps will see 3 units
    of 10 SIMD engines.
    Joint with a 4D rumor we get 30x16x4 --> 1920SP's

    i think the good thing about 30x16x4 is they should go with 384bit memory bus with 1.5GB
    then go with a 20x16x4 as 6830 with 1GB using 256bit memory bus

    also at the picture with the 4 units vs 5, most of us were thinking about just dropping a smaller one, but if they dropped 2 smaller AND added a larger, that would really change things around and i cant imagine what that could do for us.

    Dam 6950 as expensive as 5970 would have picked up 6950 if it was closer to 5870's price than 5970's....

    If both the 6770 and 6750 has two 6 pins than that will be a shame.

    From that 3D Center chart, IMHO Bart would be a failure if it atleast can't match up well vs GTX 460 1 GB, UNLESS like Juniper, it would be a half Cayman rather than a 2/3rd of it.

    From my perspective, in the Northern Islands family, Bart is the most interesting chip for its supposed ability to cover the sweetspot US$ 200 segment, since that is the segment that i am residing & might have interest in having the best card out of it.

    it just means HD6770 will replace it at the same price point ~U$200, not that they'll perform the same..

    and HD5830 is much closer to HD4890...

    Yeah thats what I hope

    The existing products were lined up based on performance somewhat, and not price(see GTX 460 and 465 along with some others), so thats what it seemed like at first..

    If these are true scores then the new series naming scheme(6000) is truly justifiable.Usually we get this kind of an improvement with a whole new generation of cards and not with simple minor updates.

    According to these scores, 6870 will be ~35% better than 5870 (muuuuuch more in intense tesselation situations), and ~20% better than gtx480. Seems like a nice follow up

    For reference this is what scores a gtx480 w/ extreme tesselation & 1920/1080
