You'd also probably need twice as much memory and two power supplies.

Shipping to USA for any quantity would be around £25, but I would have to receive it and send, as the seller is understandably not prepared to send it himself.

I think the easiest way to FIND a seller of CPUs or RAM is on sites such as ebay, but that also means that other people are aware of them. Looks like the Opterons that many members of the board community buy bought have all been bought up by people intending to resell them, which I find very rude.
    What brand is the memory,

    I may be intrested!

    thanks

It's IBM branded with a choice of either Hynix or Samsung chips.

The seller might be able to get hold of more if the demand is high enough.

Not from this seller. Are you sure you need more than 16GB of memory?

Well, if someone finds a guy with only 4 or 5 at a great price, someone should grab them up while they are available.

Sorry if I acted out of turn

I must admit, my fingers did itch at the sight of those which did you buy?

MrMojoz, did you ask if they would do a bulk discount?

I bought the 8347's because they were the ones that he didn't have in bulk (and they happened to be the cheapest). Although now that I think about it, I guess he might have had a larger quantity than the 5 listed...

I would keep using this thread for that scenario though - when a listing of <8 available shows up at a good price, someone from XS should just go and grab them while they can since there is no guarantee of a bulk buy in the first place and I'd rather see it go to XS than some fatty who's going to try and resell them.

Very true. I did think that the scenario you described was what this thread was becoming. Which isn't a bad thing mind you.

Anarki, Would you be in for a small UK buy? If the postage is reasonable. I think we're the only ones who have got / are getting these boards who haven't already got the cpus. In England I mean.

What do you guys think of the dual socket version:

I could get two of those instead of the one quad socket board...
Ive just bought 1 of them!

and got some 55w quadcores to go into it

Nice, let us know how it goes. Be interested in power consumption on the dual vs the quad. Which cpu's the 8347's?

I didn't, but those prices are decent as is so I doubt you'll see much movement. I've not seen the 835X models priced that low before in quantity. But hey, go for it!

The 8356's are very tempting as mine will be part time, so the higher the clocks, the better. I've asked for postage costs but I think you're right about the price. Never hurt to ask though

    Nice one

I've asked for postage costs but not received a reply yet. I'm after the 8356's, the 2.3 ghz ones, are you game for those? I can order them once I'm home from work.
