Opterons and RAM communitarian bulk buy

Some tell me you did not have enough with this . Some tell me I won“t find another guy which is as nice as shoota who would like to help as he did.

My idea for this is that as before we can bundle lots of interested guys who (have or not their precious board) want to buy 4x quad core cpus or more. Also I want to buy Ram for me and for the rest for cheap.

Please mention which models you would prefer and the top price per 4 cpus ( including shipping to your country) and for RAM how many modules, of how much memory, frequency and rest of specs.

I need 8 cpus ( as cheap as possible). take a look here to check the specs of yours.

this time we do not have a supplier so if you have one please PM it to me ( there are lots of people who consume our info and then go and sell the assembled servers at an expensive price at ebay).

My seller of RAM in the UK still has around 60x1GB remaining.
Price would be £7 per GB, but I may be able to get slightly lower.
Shipping to USA for any quantity would be around £25, but I would have to receive it and send, as the seller is understandably not prepared to send it himself.

I think the easiest way to FIND a seller of CPUs or RAM is on sites such as ebay, but that also means that other people are aware of them. Looks like the Opterons that many members of the board community buy bought have all been bought up by people intending to resell them, which I find very rude.

well I guess there's nothing we can do to stop that, we'll just have to keep an eye open for the next deal. It just sucks to have my board sitting idle, despite how cool it looks.

I need 4 CPUs. I got so used to them being on ebay I took it for granted they'd be there when I was ready to buy.

I'll be needing 4 cpu's. As me and Jacka just discussed in the other bulk thread, the 'Cheap' ones on ebay are still too expensive compaired to a few months ago. I'm all for the bulk buy. The more of us on board the cheaper it'll be, hopefully.

I've been quite busy revising for some exam resits lately, but I'll start a list tomorrow unless anybody else wouldn't mind doing it.

Control Systems and Control and Measurement exams.

I struggle a lot with the maths in these so I'm not very confident of passing them this time either.

Best of lucky with your revision and exam!

I've tried contacting a few of the sellers on ebay I listed here. Only received one reply from Starmicroinc so far.
    Asked if they could lower the price a little if we did a bulk buy, they said;

"Well, the prices wouldn't really change as we have already posted a very competitive price on our store."

True, they are the cheapest on ebay at the moment, 8347 @ $75 & 8350 @ $65, but that isn't cheap now is it

Sure does, I should look harder

@ Duh, 4 cpu's is all I need and whichever model we get a good deal on is fine. I'm in England, hopefully a few more from the UK will jump on board.

I was the only person in the UK to get any boards, as far as I know.

Ah righto. I thought there was one or two in the other thread who showed an interest in the boards / cpus. After the bulk buy I mean.

That would be me - I'm from Bristol. I wish I had purchased one of those Arima quad socket boards now from the bulk buy.

If I could get the board, 4 CPU's, 8GB RAM and a PSU shipped to me for under £300 I would pay you next week

The only problem us UKers have is most of the hardware on ebay is from the States meaning massive shipping costs

Sorry Anarki, it was past my bedtime

Jacka's said that his guy still has some ram left and I think you'd have it hard to best his deal. I've already bought these, should've asked Jacka before hand really. Also got some psu's cheap too I think.

@Jacka, where'd you get them from?

Board wise, I think it's still cheapest to try to get one from Rakicomputers. I managed to win the most recent one for £74.00 and postage to England is ~ £37.00. Other than that there is this one for ~£180.00.

I really should get dress and go to work

PSUs I bought are Corsair CX400 from Dabs. They were on special offer last week, but they're still only £36.

RAM that the guy still has left is probably going to be £14 per 2x1GB. Postage will only be a couple of pounds.

I've decided that when I get paid (31st) I'm going to treat myself to a quad socket setup and sell my two current machines.

Jacka do you think the guy with the RAM will have any left by the end of the month? I'm looking to grab 8GB.

I can't find the quad socket Arima board anywhere on ebay at the moment, hoping there will be some when I get paid.

    Just a heads up Anarki, I asked him on Monday if he'd be getting any more;

"We only have this at the moment. I might be able to get more of this upon request."

I'd drop him a line saying that you're interested. He's quick to respond - just not over the weekend.

    Thanks guys

I'm going to just have to wait until payday before I can grab all the kit.

What do you guys think of the dual socket version:

    http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/NEW-Arima-Riow...t=Motherboards

I could get two of those instead of the one quad socket board...
