No lie 274W TEC

I think this TEC has that little extra to keep a cpu below freezing under load. It needs less amps than a 226W at 15V and under.

So also for those that have a 226Watter that run it at 12V, get this one and you would be saving almost 2 amps on power and getting another 74W of cooling

Wow! According to that it uses less amps @ 12v and sitll puts out almost 100w more cooling than the 226w @ 12v. I'm definatly getting one when they come to north america.

have you recognized that its 50*50mm!? does it fit under the MCW?

The 226W tec I have in the MCW462-UHT is currently 50mm x 50mm x 3.4mm

I actually have some designs for that pelt, but there is an issue that needs clearing up first.

Thermal energy will have to conduct further from the core through the cold plate to take advantage of the greater cooling capability of the larger TEC. This will incur an additional temperature gradient.

Once I've got my thesis out of the way, I'm gonna do some thinking on that one to see whether it would actually be beneficial, as well as the cost of the unit.

You would also be limited as to which cpu's this could be used on.

It wouldn't really work on socket A, as the mounting holes are only 66mm apart, leaving VERY little room for mounting hardware and insulation.

There is a quite a bit more room on athlon 64 mobos, and again, I'm not sore about the new socket 775 for intel.

It could also just be done for socket 478, but again, it would be tight.

do you think I could run that on a 20A 12V psu along with a whole system (that tec would draw ~11 amps at 12v). It would leave me with around 9a left for the rest of the computer.. and thats at 100% load. PSU's operate more efficiently at 74-85% load...

I may be ok but I think you'll be better off with a seperate power supply for the Tec, also you can chill things down a little before you boot up the system.

I've ordered one of the 274 watters to try out with my 6800U, when it arrives. I used to use a 226W Tec with my 5900U and got some reasonable results.

Mind showing what kind of block and coldplate you use to put a 50x50 TEC on a gfx card?

Well, I use one of these, with a little grinding on the 5mm copper coldplate, and carefull positioning, with a home made hold down. It's 50 x 50 with 1/2" fittings. I also have had a silver coldplate, but it was thinner, and is now turned into bling things for my other gf.
