    Seasonic M12D-850 or OCZ Z Series 850W Modular ?

    Hey guys,

My current OCZ ModXstream 780W has gotten a RMA approval from OCZ since from my point of view the 120mm fan had just worn out.
(It makes a whining noise after being idle for a while as well as anything that goes beyond idle load).

Now since this PSU is somewhat older and current models seem a little more efficient (as well as more cutting edge...) i was looking to get a new power supply before i send this one in.

Now i'm just sitting here scratching my head on what to do next.

After reading several reviews of both the Seasonic M12D-850 and the OCZ Z Series 850W Modular i'm still puzzled what to go for...
(They are both premium power supplies and seem to be going head to head).

Right now my money is on the OCZ since i've been using those PSU's for over 5 years and their service (if something ever happens) is just outstanding.

So, i made this thread wondering if anyone here would be able to share some experience or advise related to these PSU's?

Yeah, go Seasonic, they don't even use Seasonic for the PCP&C ones anymore, and with what they're charging for the 950 MK II, it's a BIG mistake IMO.

I can get above mentioned power supplies for the same price (10 EUR. apart from each other) so that is no issue for me.
Do you guys have any experience with the after sales that Seasonic offers?
(Take a look at OCZ's where i can just RMA the supply without a single hitch only because i felt the fan had become too noisy....).

You'll love it. I've got one in my rig, couldn't think of a better PSU. Other than maybe Corsair's new Flextronics-made ones.. (Consumer-grade/price anyways)

I installed the PSU and man this is bliss....
I spent the past 8 months quieting down my PC by making decisive upgrades (Stock HD5870 to HD5870 Vapor-X, 2 x RaptorX to 2 x Intel X-25M, Zalman FS-C77 to Xigmatek Dark Knight etc.).
My PC kept having this little whining noise as soon as it was under load and i figured it was the PSU.
So now it has been replaced and man, the entire ambient noise floor in the room has gone down a mile!

    Hey guys,

I just got message from OCZ that the 'older' PSU i sent in is going to be replaced for a OCZ Z Series 850Watt model.
So i guess now i'll end up with both the M12D-850 and the OCZZ850M, hahaha.
(I'll probably end up selling the OCZ while its still sealed).
