If you are looking for a 4.2-4.5ghz stable systems it will do that, but there are other boards available for a lot less money that will do the same and some much better. I think for anyone running bloomfield it is a waste of $ to get this board, if you plan to upgrade to gulftown then it is worth the money. I have no plans to leave bloomfield in the near future so for me it was a total waste.

I had that same problem a couple days ago... Took me forever to get the yellow crap off, but after I cleaned it 3 times and replaced everything, the temps were at 35c on bootup.. Max was 49c at 1.36v on the IOH. 42c average on the ioh for 1.25v. That's what I normally use while overclocking..
I may try 901 my self to see if its better on voltages compared to 860. I did find 860 required more VTT compared to 802 even on my Dominator-GTs with the same 12gb setup... still less than the G.Skills but Hehe difference is still noticeable
802 - 1.27v
860 - 1.33v
Speed at 1866 compared to 1600 on the G.Skills.

What board guarantee higher blck on blooms under water cooling than r3e? I mean over 230?
cause it's seems to be an average blck for this board.

hmm, with 901 no matter what i did after flash, the board would not boot into windows, and did not seem to want to save any changes in bios. ( yes checked drive boot order)
went back to 860 and all is good, hmm..
nostromo
edit : screen keeps popping f1, or f2, hit f2 to continue, will boot into windows, but all stock, bios will not save any changes. all ok with 860
edit2: bios will not save any changes, so proper boot order not being saved. I thought it was at least saving that, but it saves nothing.

that QPI voltage is a bit high for 24/7 use... you shouldn't even need anywhere near that high of voltage to begin with with only 6gb of memory. i would bring that down to 1.28-1.31-ish if not lower even at the speed your memory is at, you shouldn't need 1.51v that's breaking the degration zone.

I am having the SAME issue as Nostromo. Tried flashing from 0860 and same thing happens each time. Made a post in Asus forums also ftw..
Wow that's really low. What are your ambient room temps? Sounds like someone's cheating with ACor i did a crappy job of replacing the TIM.
I had to replace that yellow crap also, and yea it takes time to remove. Since I never ran it stock can't really tell the difference, but my IOH never goes above 55 at 1.113v, w/o AC (~70F). Plus this is also with the board in a closed case on air![]()
Try as follow flash process.
From 9124 BIOS to 0901 BIOS.
As above flashing process, mine is no problems & works fine!!
I found some bugs about 0860 BIOS, so I never use 0860 BIOS.
When I tested 0860 BIOS, I can not shut-down Windows Vista.
If I shut-down Windows Vista from start menu shut-down buttom, my REX3 locked & can not finish shut-down process.
0802, 9124 & 0901 never happen that shut-down problems.

The mobo can High BCLK w/o slow mode, it depend on X58 chip, not mobo.
So you need over 230 BCLK with HIHG QPI, You buy some mobo & select good X58 chip one.
I bought 3 REX3, the best one is over BCLK 245MHz with QPI link speed over 8.8TB.
Same as classy E760, P6T WS pro & UT X58, I need select good one.
When I used these mobo, I selected good one from 5 or more mobo.![]()

Remove original thermal past from heat sink & re-apply good thermal compound.
My REX3 had same problem before re-applying Scythe "Thermal Elixer".
Chipset & heat sink had good contact, perhaps your mobo temp will go down as normal.
After re-apply good thermal compound, temps does not change, just RMA.![]()

i seem to be having issues with a 4.5ghz setup again...

QPI - 1.39v *have tried from 1.31 to 1.48*
DRAM - 1.65v *no need to increase as i'm only using CPU multiplier for higher speeds BUT! i have tried frrom 1.65 to 1.7*
IOH - 1.31v *i have tried from 1.11 to 1.33*

Are they using slow mode? That is useless for 3d benches and 24/7 use. My board tops out at 118 or around 237 with slow mode, but i could care less about spi runs. My UD7 so far has maxed out at 231 and without having to use slow mode or 115-130 pcie, 107-109 is all that is needed.
^^ different board though and probably better X58 chip than what's on your R3E

Yes probably so, however for the premium price they are getting for this board shouldnt they be more consistent? Eventully I will let this go and move on but hope I can prevent someone else from making a bad choice and blowing extra $$$.
