If you have a slow leak what's the first thing that CPU block is going to drip on, your MAIN card. Also when you leave it overnight what does that do? It removed the positive pressure in your lines causing the leak and dries the water on the card. Check by the PCI-E slot, my money is on a leak ecause I had the same issue and swore Id never get w/c again after I ignored it and blew out my vcard.
I will take a look at this just to make sure that I do not have a leak, however my MB is horizontal, so I am not sure if it did leak what it would effect, the CPU or something else like the GPU's. When I get home I will take a look at it. Thanks for the help.

So it turns out my main issues were caused by bad drivers. Took me 4 hours, but I finally got the system cleaned and new drivers installed. Now both GPU's are functionally correctly. The only issue I have is why does the GTX470 drop to 405Mhz while playing BF2142? The only thing I can think of is that because it isn't using all the power of the GPU's it drops down, any ideas? It does stay maxed while doing a vantage run.

Are you using 3 screens? Alot of people are having this problem on the EVGA forums, Everytime they disconnect a monitor instead of losing say 400 core they lose 100 only and so on, same with shader etc

Another thing I find funny is AMD/Intel would snipe any of our Moms on a grocery run if it meant good quarterly results, and you are forever whining about what feser did?

No just dual monitors. I am pretty sure it is a GPU bios thing that tries to reduce power when it is not being fully utilized. I looked at the bios and there are two 3D settings, one for 607Mhz and one for 405Mhz, so this would make sense since my framrates do not drop when it reduces the clocks.

got my GTX470s on water (koolance full cover blocks and an exos2.5, nothing else in the loop) and doing a little OCing now... 775/1550/1900 seems stable.. I have the v-gpu at 1.087 but it will go to 1.212! load temps while gaming / heaven only go to about 44c... kombuster gets the temps to 50c... but I know that's a poor validation tool... will install occt tonight and test with that..

edit: occt is riding my gpus like they are a pair of rented mules. loads are hitting 60c at 800/1600/1900... still at 1.087v
looks like it survived the tests.. whew.

Here you go guys. I can't find a link for that Fermi BIOS Editor Lite but I have found a link for a program called nVidia Inspector, made by the same guy who made that Fermi BIOS Editor.

post occt stressing, been gaming hard on my GTX 470s @ 820/1640/1900 and they are rock solid so far.. my v-gpu is still 1.087 and I don't want to go over that to spare the vrms too much added stress... watercooled temps are so damn nice... gaming I rarely see anything over 45c, but usually the top card is 42c and the bottom is 40c. dep on ambient though.. the top card gets the cooled coolant first and I have some case fans moving air around them but I am guessing being a frame buffer for two of the displays adds a little extra heat.

So far so good with my new 470. It sure does love water though. 800/1800 so far with stock volts, full load at 45-46C.

    Hi Guys,
I would like to add my 2 cents on the gtx 480. Despite all I have read online and in magazines, Temps, Power & just not worth the money. I took a plunge and purchase one base on these forms here and the end user personal reviews.
Coming from ati HD 4890’s in crossfire I must say I’m very impressed with the single GPU performance, playing at my native res of 1920 by 1200.
My future plan with would be to go sli and run 3 monitor with 3d surround , I currently have one monitor running 3d surround and plays without missing a beat. I’m also have the ek water blocks ready to install just waiting for my second card to arrive.
I uninstalled Asus smart doctor, it had a few glitches now running MSI Afterburn, fan control on auto it never goes over 70c with my corsair 800d,

So thanks guys I have enjoyed the read and now I’m enjoying the 480.

    Hey guys.

Just started messing with my GTX 480 and noticed that I cannot access core clocks with EVGA Precision or Nvidia Inspector. Am I missing some unlock feature such as ATI has in CCC? EVGA Precision doesnt even list a core speed on the side of the OVerclocking slider bar...

The Core and Shader clocks are "locked together", overclocking one overclocks the other. This had me scratching my head as well, but you'll just have to get used to it. Advice, used OCCT for overclocking your CPU and GPU, it's the best program out there for stability testing because it stresses the whole computer!

    Lol

Many thanks on the heads up Got my card a few days ago on a huge deal with a decent MIR and had no intentions of buying a Fermi based card, so wasn't even paying attention to any threads based on them. Never even occurred to me

I prolly wouldnt have fallen for this mistake if the core was present and the shader was blank

I never let my GPU handle physics. I don't give 2 sh|ts about random crap flying around on the screen. Time nVidia made their PhysX do something useful, like, proper bullet and collision physics.

As for water cooling these Fermi's, there a completely different beast under water cooling! A 50% reduction in temps and insane overclocks well past 900MHz on the core, some have come close to 1000MHz!

    EK Nickel/plexi top on route

Will have my 980x and the GTX 480 on a Feser quad and my chipset/mosfet block on a single. Should be pretty sweet rig when done

    Thanks again for your help
