What kind of IOH you guys are using? The bad 3D-performance is properly due to too little IOH. IOH voltage affects the PCIe dramatically on SR-2.

Is the Xeon x5677 chip multiplier unlocked? What PSU are you guys able to use with the SR-2?

I was using a Corsair HX1000 on my setup, then while benchmarking it blew up using dual 295's and 5670s @ 4.6ghz 1250W power draw from wall.

Corsair HX1000 is still live and kicking here, with one GTX 295. But CPUs are running at low-volt to deal with July heat.
The PSU has been running quiet and smooth and seams to be able to handle more vCore too.

If you are looking for a good PSU, you should consider Corsair AX 1200W. I'm using HX 1000W temporary while waiting for that to get in stock. .

I think i just got the WR in CB 11.5 Whats the WR anyways?

Something (good) happens over BCLK200, the performance jumps much more than expected for each BCLK.

Sam, remember what I told you what happens at 172and again at just over 200.. It's like the damned things have a divider that starts at those BCLK's..
No logic but you see it yourself.

Guys haven't searched this thread but what are stand off/cpu socket measurements for SR-2 ? Just trying to get this to proper scaling

Yeah I remember you were talking about those dividers, but I didn't catch the point and the importance before now. It scores much better in Wprime 32m too actually, so it seams to be a real kick.

You are right, something (totally illogical) kicks inn at BCLK200 on my CPUs, and suddenly improves the CPU-performance dramatically.

Cpuz states E5630...but also says ES chips. If thats with 5650's, that is impressive. I just sold a pair of 5660 since they were not B1 steppping to get the newer chips. I may just go 5650's instead!

CPU-z is reporting wrong. E5630 is a quad-core, but these are hexa-cores. These early X5650 ES have the same x19 multi and x20 turbo tho, and maybe that's why CPU-z gets confused.

These early BIOSes will probably get better, and it will hopefully take SR-2 to BCLK210+ soon. But until then a retail X5660 (with x21 multi) should be a better option than X5650 (with x20) for getting the potential OC out of these CPUs.

I am with you on that suggestion and the X5660 is only about 300-400 dolars more a pair vs the X5650 depending on were you buy them. I am waiting for my case (and that AX1200 to be released) to get here so I can start to put this thing together. I am just impressed on what those X5650's can do so these 5660's should run just as good I hope.

To be honest, I don't know why it is scoring so high at CB, but i don't think it is limited to X5650.

Something totally illogical, based on the logic we know from single-socket, (but very welcome ) kicks inn at some BCLKs, and then it score much better, both on CB and Wprime, but scales much better on CB. The performance (and VVT and/or IOH-voltage requirements) jumps up on BCLK173, BCLK201, and BCLK206, as far as I've tested so far.

This @3.91GHz(206x19) is scoring like @5GHz+(? ) on CB 11.5, but the Wprime 32M score is 2.322s which is more like @4.3GHz (compared to what I've seen on Wprime scores on hwbot). I'm still investigating to see what's going on, and it may have something to do with how these CPUs communicate with each other, but whatever it is should apply to all X56xx, I guess.

EDIT: Here is the Wprime. The score is much better than expected for this speed, but it doesn't scale up as good as CB.

These are not E5630. I've been talking about it earlier:

I've asked this earlier, but anybody knows which one is NB-temp in E-LEET? Or have a infrared-reading to see if E-LEET is reporting right?
I need to increase the IHO-voltage for next level, but increasing from 1.350v to 1.425v adds only ~2'C to system2-temp (from 45 to 47), and ~1'C to system-temp (from 41 to 42).
I suspect system2 is the NB-temp, but in case, either the stock cooling is really good or E-LEET is reporting wrong.

I'm wondering what would be the max safe IOH-voltage for 24/7 on air.

I've been looking more into these high scores, and it seams to be some kind of anomaly related to unstable chipst.

I can't get a consistent high score in CB 11.5, it jumps up and down when i change the IOH-voltage. Too little IOH-voltage (which often results in shattering audio, and fluctuation on display) scores high in CB 11.5 and Wprime.

I'm still looking to see what's going on, but it looks like a side effect of an unstable chipset than a real stable system with high performance.
