Did Gigabyte do some downgrades on 2.0 UD7? From 24 phases to just 16? WTF? And they also got rid of watercooling support for the northbridge heatsink, thats less than impressive.

I used crossfire for 3d benching only so I uninstalled the x-fi for that. Normally I just run a single card. The design could have been better thought out though. That is one of the things I like about the RIIE board, it has a better layout, but the UD7 has been much better for overclocking at least for me.

Not been around here for a while, but I dropped in recently looking for a solution to USB issues. I see the UD9 is suffering from the same

On the UD9 thread, I said:

As soon as the rig is shut down & cold booted again, its Jackanory all over again.

Not impressed in the slightest for a £280 high end mobo & Zero support in the UK. It's the last Gigabyte product I will ever buy as long as I have a hole in my ass.

it's a weird one and ive never seen anything like that. best to either jump into the UD7 support thread on giga UK site to get help rather than UD9 thread

However, I discovered this & posted on the UD9 thread as below:

I wasn't coming on here for help RE: the UD7 m8y. I was just making a comment RE: the USB issues on the UD7, as it appears the UD9 is suffering from the same

However, this might help you UD9 users. Disable the Sata 3 ports & the Gigabyte IDE ports & the USB should be fine. I flashed this UD7 to Bios F7J & lost the keyboard during a desktop session. What a nightmare gettng USB working again for reverting back to F6.

Anyway, it's as good as it can be atm but this board is being RMA'd for another X58 brand & Gigabyte will be billed for the EK Chipset waterblocks. Even my USB CF & other card slots are now showing. If I don't come back in this thread to edit this post, you all know my Lian Li Card reader even survived a cold boot for disabling the Sata 3 & GigaCrap Sata headers.....ffs!

Thanks for the link too, but that's one forum I won't be signing up for.
    All the Best,

    Charlie

    *Edit*

The card reader did survive one cold boot since disabling the Sata 3 & GigaCrap SATA headers. However, I just went to load my Cruzer 4Gb Sandisk pen drive affair & notice all the other Card reader slots have dissapeared again.

Has anybody noticed that the CPU power phases were reduced to 16 from the 24 if Rev. 1? Not neccessarily such a setback, but stripping down power phases on one end AND having the 980X mod for 6 GHz in it feels a bit inconsequent....Anyway I won't change.

Is there possibly the newer Northbridge step C2 on the board?

Yeah the new revision board does look very disappointing, unless if I'm missing something why did Gigabyte downgrade the power phases to 16? From my point of view the UD5 2.0 is a better buy at this point. And I wish Gigabyte would fix the PCI-E slots layout.

I asked this question on the UD9 thread.

    http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/...3&postcount=62

I'm not sure how this new design changes things and my UD7 ver 1.0 hasn't let me down so far, therefore some figures might be needed to show the benefits.

I have read a UD9 review (new 24 phase version) which didn't show any remarkable benefits over an ASUS board at Hexus.net unless you are keen on extra PCIe x16 slots.

I hasten to add that I'm not that technical and could have missed something
    Sig always changing .

    Yo guys,
I cleaned up my case yesterday and took out the mem. and all the other stuff.
After it I took all modules back into the slots 1-3-5, hooked them up like it is supposed to but only 2048 MB are recognized by the BIOS. The BIOS shows up:

How can I make the system accepting 6 GB RAM again?
    I am running 9-9-9-24 CR 1. I changed to CR 2 but it doesn´t make a difference.

mate can you resize your pics? Its really hard seeing them.. use imageshack.com

Another thing I find funny is AMD/Intel would snipe any of our Moms on a grocery run if it meant good quarterly results, and you are forever whining about what feser did?

    Yo man,
I made a CMOS-Reset, changed the modules and the channels. Back to 1-3-5 only 2048 MB is recognized.
What am I supposed to do?

    guys

the new UD7 VRM is an improvement over the old one. We've changed the MOSFETS on the board to beefier ones...they are driver MOSFETS and true 16phase design. UD7 stays on the 8 layer PCB as well

the new VRM should shine with high load Gulftown LN2 benching but on normal use you won't really notice any difference.

This is also an industry first redundant VRM design comprised of 8+8phases switching on every reboot and if one was to fail the second would kick in and keep going

this is a normal occurrence in i7 unfortunately that can be a pain in the ass

the most common reason is overdoing the mount on the CPU and the pads not making the best contact with the board...............assuming that RAM is not faulty

i would advise remounting CPU after you clean the pads with alcohol and DO NOT overdo the mount pressure......install memory one by one and watch the boot RAM quantity as you do

i would also suggest testing each stick separately just in case something went bad as well as revisiting your volts in bios and checking what your VTT in particular is running at as well as vdimm

Sorry for the nop-question. Which pads do you mean?
I think you are on the right way because you did not know that I have changed the cpu cooler before. But I have removed the paste from the cpu as well and put some new on it.
Do you think I over screwed the pressure.

    basically underneath the CPU
what usually happens is either you touch it and dirty some of them or overtighten the mount.......might take you a lot of tries but im sure you will get it up and running

yes it will as long as you dont have a cramped case cause the last slot as you can see in the image is at the end of pcb if you know what i mean.....

you need a case with 8 expansion slots in order to run 3 dual slot cards with this board, and no room for a sound card. you said water cooled though so maybe ok with 7 slots in the case

You could use a 800D , might have to cut out a bit of the bottom though with a dremel or even remove it so it allows it...
