the center focal flower didnt come out as focused as i wanted.
no tripod with me, and lots of weeds in between me and the flower the camera was having a hard time grabbing the center flower

nice cat xcel, it has a lovely DOF i guess it was shot with a macro? lestat, i like the way you have taken that image it's nice great pics everyone, keep up the good work!

i have been away from my camera for quite a while and haven't been active with shooting and visiting this thread. i feel i'm on a decline of interest to photography (was never serious in the first place though) so i decided to get myself a cheap speedlite (nissin) to get my feet wet again and to my surprise i find the results with the speedlite to be miles away better than with the pop-up flash i was saying to myself why i didn't get this in the first place! anyways, i hope i can be motivated again with photography

here's one test shot with my new nissin di866 + 45" brolly

ridney good to see you back.
hows the 7D treating you? any focusing issues? error codes about the battery (you have to remove the battery and put it back in), or has it all been peachy for you?

Basicly just photo sharing services, SmugMug I think allow full-resolution photos and you can choose which size you put into some forum or so.. Flickr same, but only with payed premium (anyway I think that 1024 pix limit is enough for web). Point is that it doesnt change photos, nor add bit distracting logos or text to photo.

yes, i'm having focusing issues with my 7D. so far i can tell that more than half of my shots at the wider end (17mm~20mm) backfocuses and it's pretty annoying even in broad daylight or with the af assist beam. i didn't have this problem previously and now i'm thinking of sending the body and lens to the service center once i find some extra time. for the mean time, i use live-view at the wide end when the situation is quite tricky as it gives me the absolute sharpness i can get at any focal length.

i had some error code issues with the firmware it came out of the box but since i updated i never had those issues anymore.

does your 550D giving you better pictures than your previous 7D?

    Thx, again

I see what you mean. I will look at them when i get time, and will try one of them.
You are right, the text and low res messes up a lot. Besides, these are screen capture on a monitor with TN-panel, and it messes up colors on top that.
It would look much better if I could upload originals somewhere, for sure

ohyeah the T2i, for reasons unknown to me or anyone else (aside from the focusing issue of the 7D) i get pictures that i could never get with the 7D.
better colors, better depth, better everything.

i truly miss the 7D, 1/4000th shutter speed of the T2i kills me all the time because it makes shooting outdoor shots on these nice sunny days a real nightmare. i either have to use an ND filter (which causes focusing issues on my lenses) or deal with over exposed images and do alot of post work on them.

check my flikr page for my T2i shots. there are a FEW old 7D shots so as you look thru them notice the difference in the 7D vs T2i shots.
    http://www.flickr.com/photos/44636635@N02/

there are even some old 20D and 40D and XSi shots that were better than the 7D.
i was never impressed with it, and after 3 bodies i have no logical explanation as to why the 7D was producing such horrible shots (focusing issues aside) when the T2i and the 7D are identical cameras aside from the obvious dual chipsets and added features of the 7D. but essentially, since the 2nd chip in the 7D only does focusing and nothing else, there really isnt alot of difference.

i am having some focusing issues with my T2i but its all in the lens, its not the camera that i can tell, and my 50mm and 85mm need to go back to canon and the sigma 30mm needs to go back to sigma since neither company actually fixed the focusing on them 100%. and how they missed it is beyond me.

here is another one where the grass and everything was interfering with the focusing on the camera, i was in a hurry and didnt have time to sit and manual focus so its a bit fuzzy, but the point of the picture is obvious i think

It's actually taken with the Canon 85mm F/1.8, brilliant little lens

My 85mm 1.8 was slightly front focusing on my 500D but after calibration it's spot on every time unless I mess up focusing. It's perfect and very reliable after calibration
