You may also want to consider a good XEON eg. W3520 etc

all i do for aqua is rename the .exe to crysis.exe and it runs on all cores big scores come only reason it wont run on win 7 would be if u have disabled too many services or youe using 64bit.

If you can TRY and find a good used 920 DO, nice CPU and OC's well. Played around a bit last night with the new REIII and 920 and 4.2mhz is a breeze and the voltages are all within spec.(1.28v on the CPU everything else stock) and this rig is on air. It's been crunching WCG at 4.2mhz with the cpu running in the mid 60's. At 4.4ghz I needed 1.3v, which put the temps in the high 60's which I didn't want for a 24/7 cruncher.

Haven't played a lot with the REIII but ME and the memory is what ends holding me back. Couldn't figure out how to slow the RAM down. Sure you can set QPI speed to slow and easy get more, but I figure that's not the best use of that setting for a cruncher.

Since the 1366 came out it has been well know that for your average over clocker pretty much any 1366 board will get you within a couple hundred mhz of each other. So it boils down to your preference's, I bought the REIII because I like Asus boards and wanted to have the toys it offers. BTW the build quality on the board is excellent, no problems what so ever running the latest BIOS.

Does this board not allow one to use their laptop's bluetooth to connect to the remote ROG tools? The USB cable works fine but it seems silly one can't use the laptops BT connection instead.

It's funny you mention the Classified as all the new bios' they release are now geared toward the 6-core chips. I got rid of my Classified for the RE3 and I am not looking back. I guess if I was still on my 920 it might be different, but I am not. And as far as boards go, the Blood Rage was one of the best, if not best, boards I ever owned, especially after doing the PCIe mod. I couldn't get past 220BCLK in boot up with either the 759 or the 760 Classified, always had to do the overclocking in Windows. With the BR I was able to boot at 231BCLK after the PCIe mod with little effort and I mean little. It was by far the easiest board I have had to hit 4.2Ghz with a 920 with minimal effort. The only problem was Foxconn's support of the board was somewhat lacking.

Costing less than the Classified, I personally think it's a much better value. Now EVGA is releasing new updated boards and they prove to be better, but I haven't seen too much out there on them. Also, you keep saying the 6 core CPU's are not worth it, for gaming I agree, I would just get a good 1156 board and even maybe a dual core chip, but for folding, video conversions, editing, etc. it's nice have 12 threads to work with, but everyone has their own preference to what is "value".

I agree with zsams in part, the board is no better than some lower priced boards for overclocking bloomfield. Looking at all the screens posted by gulftown users, that is a different story, people are doing great things with the 980x. I doubt that new bios's by any manufacturer will be geared towards bloomfield now, so I think its as good as it will get, just my opinion. I have put my board back in the box for now, but may try it again down the road. I was able to boot at much higher bclk on the UD7 without having to use SlowMode, above 220 without SlowMode has seemed impossible to me on the RIIE.

Completely agree with that logic. There are way too many lower priced boards that offer great overclocking of the 920/930 that it makes sense to go that route and put the saved coin into something else like the GPU or water cooling. My main point was that this board is great for the 980x for sure and too me well worth the price, but it does have a learning curve, no different than the Classified did.

    Hi

is that it needs more vQPI to the memory controller (IMC) when passing from 3 to 6GB of ram, but same number of sticks, frequency, timings, etc. ...

    thanks

I think not, but I didn't try. There is no option to change from USB cable to BT in RC TweakIt but it might be a good idea to implement, if it is possible.
You should (must ) post your idea in this thread: ASUS Intel Beta BIOS Releases and Official Support, or I will quote you there.

No. Did you maybe accidentally switch QPI to Slow Mode?

Quick question ... as I have the i7 965 ... I know, early adopter and crazy fanatic ... I haven't seen many who do have one in here so what's the safe zone for max vCore voltage on air? Would 1.54v be too much for a 24/7 4.4GHz setting?

That seems a bit high, but if you can keep it cool then is should be fine. I would probably dial it back to 4.2Ghz and lower the voltage to lower the temps.

    Quick question!

According to the manual, i should use PCI-E ports 1 and 3 for 2-way SLI, is that correct?

Didn't think I was missing anything.
Silly they would build a wireless connection then leave out the code to use a laptop? My old Dell PPC (WM5) won't run the windows app and of course the iPhone app is no where to be seen yet.
Apple is probably blocking sale of the app because they officially support only a few BT profiles for some stupid reason, but I sure hope it comes to fruit as the folks that have seen it where impressed.

i've been able to squeeze 4.48ghz out of my 930 on water (40*c idle, mid 70's full load) @ 21x213 and 1.44v. though doing this is a sacrifice on memory speed too. i can get it to boot at 4ghz w/ 1800mhz on the memory (i'm using 12gb with 6x2gb sticks) but for the life of me it simply will not boot at 4.1-4.5ghz range with memory at or above 1750mhz.

if you're looking into something to suit both budget and overclocking headroom at the same time i would highly suggest something that's unlocked both on blck and uncore. i got the 930 thinking it would be perfect for a 4+ghz @ 2000mhz mem setup, but that's not happening so i broke my wallet and ordered a 980x
