    Tried that. In the end the only way for me to get the memory Mhz anywhere near 1600Mhz was to up the BCLK.

    What I find really weird is the the ram is COMPLETELY stable at 1594 but simply upping it to 1600 prevents post all together.

    It almost seems like the BIOS are set to prevent booting of 24gb of ram at 1600Mhz. Otherwise I simply don't understand how 6Mhz can push a board from stable to unpostable.

    Also a note, I have made sure I have enough voltage and Memory Protect is enabled.

    Running it at 1.67 would be taking it down from where I last tried. I had it at 1.685 to simply see if it was voltage. No dice.

    Really quite weird how this board doesn't like my ram

    Is it worth trying this board over EVGA 762 / Asus P6T7? I have very high PCI-E loading with two GTX480s and Areca ARC1680ix-24.

    I went from the Classified to this board and can't be happier. I thought the Classified was good, but this board rocks. I couldn't get the 980x stable at 4.2Ghz on the Classified, but had no problem doing it once I figured out the settings. I have been disappointed with EVGA's bios' lately.

    i can't seem to get around the 0802 "boot block invalid", trying to load straight from EZ flash out of bios, anyone got any ideas?

    i'd like to see if 0802 will allow me to have better luck with my BLCK's, no matter what i do i can't seem to get higher than 4ghz on the 930. i know i can go more, i'm on water as well so i can handle the temps just fine.

    so far the only stable settins is at 22x 182 blck at 1.3v. all the normal settings and whatnot is done but it just wont go any higher on 0704 for me.

    Exclamation Only 3 DIMMs !??!

    Hello gentlemen.

    Please forgive me for my question. I am new to this Forum and I
    have not read all the previous posts.

    I have recently purchased two sets of this memory

    G.SKILL PI + Turbulence II 6GB (3 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR3 2000 (PC3 16000) Model F3-16000CL6T-6GBPID
    http://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product...-374-_-Product

    for a total of 12GB.

    But I am currently in the process of building my system
    on the Asus Rampage III Extreme motherboard and a
    Core i7 980X CPU.

    And while reading the Instruction book for the motherboard
    under, Memory Configuration, Page 2-15, it says

    " Due to Intel spec definition, X.M.P. DIMMs and DDR3-1600
    are supported for one DIMM per channel only. "

    The diagram given depicting the DIMM channels is as bellow.
    [NOTE: this symbol ========== represents a DIMM socket. And A, B, and C represent the channels. ]
    I have turned the diagram horizontally.

    DIMM_A2 =====================================
    DIMM_A1 =====================================
    DIMM_B2 =====================================
    DIMM_B1 =====================================
    DIMM_C2 =====================================
    DIMM_C1 =====================================

    So. Does this mean that I cannot get all my 6 DIMMs of
    DDR3-2000MHz to function on this board at or above a speed
    of 1600MHz in Triple-Channel mode ??? Does it mean that only
    3 DIMMs (total 6GB of memory) will function only !??!

    This may be the cause of the problem that Mrk1525

    Anyone out there running this board with more than 3 DIMMs
    in Triple-Channel mode and speeds of over 1600MHz on the RAM ??

    Please forgive me, but are you saying therefore that 6 DIMMs of 2GB's each of DDR3-2000MHz in Tiriple-Channel mode does in fact work on this motherboard ???

    And so is all the recent Classified Bios updates. If all you want is a quad core or dual core then this board and the Classified are probably overkill for you. They run the same price, but the RE3 gives you more features and better support for newer chips. If all you do is game then the 1156 chipset is probably a better buy.

    i got a 1156 with 860
    i was planning a second 1156 with maximus III but just sold my maximus III right after i bought a p67t supercomputer for a great price
    to me you cant compare a p55 to an x58 not even close
    actually i got a classy for 150$ less than i paid for my rexIII
    i'm gonna compare my supercomputer n 760 n rexIII soon
    i be keepin 2 920 builds n 1 board as backup
    to be honest i wish i could buy back my rexII new owner too happy with it lol
    looks like i'll end up retiring my rexIII

    everything is overkill
    i havent played a game in weeks n i run 5970+5870 and 4870x2+4870 in the secondary rig

    well seems i've fixed my BLCK issues a bit, for once it's actually booted on other multiplier settings others than 22x.

    i'm going to try and get 0802 to run somehow and try to get roughly the same clocks but with 1800 on the memory.

    currently:
    -4.3ghz i7 930 @ 215x20 w/ 1.4v
    -12gb (6x2gb) G.skill ECO CL7's 1600 @ 1724 / 7-8-7-24 *i DID have these at 1834 / 6-8-6-24 before so i might be able to pull it off again once i can get BLCK to hit 225-227 range with 19x*
    -HD5970 graphics with minor OC'd clocks of 800core / 1250 memory

    image below, a bit big to post so direct link only.

    You can get a better overclock on this card by using its over-volt utility. You can reach stable speeds of 935MHz on GPU.

    From what are loading it, USB, floppy, CD or other, what format does it have, FAT or NTFS?

    How about read the below and test again.

    Quoted from Asus forum, EZ Flash 2 - the safest way to update BIOS
    EZ Flash 2 – the best, the safest and the most convenient way to update BIOS.

    Revised February 4, 2010.

    Updating BIOS is serious business!
    Every precaution should therefore be taken to prevent that anything goes wrong. Above all: DO NOT USE ASUS UPDATE!!! AFUDOS is the only good alternative to EZ Flash 2.

    EZ Flash 2 is a built-in function of BIOS. It is the safest way to update BIOS, because one is not dependent on the operating system, any application, internet connection, firewall settings, antivirus or anything else that can put the vital BIOS update at risk.

    On a new build, BIOS can be updated to the latest version before installation of the OS, which may possibly make the installation go smoother and safer.

    Note: All what's said below about loading BIOS defaults also applies to the other BIOS update methods (ASUS Update and AFUDOS)!

    The PC must never be overclocked during the BIOS update! Always load and save BIOS defaults before and after a BIOS update (press <F5>). By loading and saving BIOS defaults before the update, CPU frequency, memory frequency and voltages are set to default (Auto).
    Memory timings are set to SPD values which ensure that a PC with high performance memory that need a higher voltage than 1.8V for DDR2 or 1.5V for DDR3 is able to boot on the standard Memory Voltage. Save the default settings (press <F10>) before starting the update.

    When these instructions are carefully followed, there will be no need for a CLRTC.

    Preparation:

    1. Document all your preferred BIOS settings (i.e. the settings you have changed from the default setting).
    2. Download the BIOS file, which normally is compressed (zipped).
    3. Unzip the BIOS file to a FAT/FAT32 formatted USB Flash Disk with only one partition (or to a Floppy Disk or a CD-ROM). If the unzipped BIOS file is named like e.g. 'P5B-ASUS-Deluxe-1101.ROM', you can rename it to 'P5BD1101.ROM'. Otherwise a truncated name will appear as 'P5B-AS~1.ROM' due to a limitation to max 8 characters in the filename (8.3).
    Update:

    1. Reboot.
    2. Press (tap) <DEL> during POST (Power-On Self Test) to enter BIOS Setup.
    3. Load BIOS Defaults (press <F5>).
    4. Insert the USB Flash Disk containing the BIOS file P5BDxxxx.ROM. (Note that the USB Flash Disk has to be inserted before boot to enter BIOS, otherwise it won't be detected).
    5. Save and Exit <F10>. (BIOS will now restart).
    6. During BIOS restart, press <DEL> to enter BIOS Setup again.
    7. Under Tools menu, select ASUS EZ Flash 2. It may take 20 seconds for the drives to show up. Select a drive in the left pane <Tab>. Use <Up> and <Down> arrows and <Enter> to select a drive. If you don't see the BIOS file in the right pane, check the other drives. Note that the drive letters may not be the same here as in Windows.
    8. Select the BIOS file (e.g. P5BD1101.ROM) and press <Enter> to start flashing. Supervise the update, which includes the following stages: Erasing - Flashing (writing) - Verification. BIOS will automatically restart when the update is ready.
    9. Disconnect the USB Flash Disk before/during the restart.
    10. Perform a C.P.R. (CPU Parameter Recall) which resets the chipset. Power down, remove power cord from the PSU for 2 minutes and then power up.
    11. Enter BIOS and load BIOS Defaults <F5> again.
    12. Reenter your preferred BIOS settings - if you are using AHCI or RAID mode, don't forget to set 'Configure SATA as' to [AHCI / RAID]. Also remember the settings for the JMicron Controller, Audio and Memory Voltage. Check also that the Boot Device Priority is ok.
    13. Save and Exit <F10> (automatic restart).
    14. Press <DEL> to enter BIOS Setup and make a final check that all BIOS settings are ok. Save any changes.

    I agree with zsams, this in not the best board for bloomfield. Unless you plan to use gulftown, save some money and get a cheaper board, some will do as good, some will do much better than this.

    After looking at my old BIOS photos and benching s/s I can say with certainty that it was never monitored. And how cares about it.

    You want to pair SSD with HDD in RAID0? Why would you do that?

    How about read the below and test again.

    Quoted from Asus forum, EZ Flash 2 - the safest way to update BIOS
    the same way i did my 0704 bios, i downloaded them, extracted and moved it into my documents. went into bios, started EZ flash, went through the C drive directory, went into users, my profile, into documents, highlighted the new bios and told it to flash and it states it's boot block isn't valid. i did it the same way when i did it for 0704 and had no issues then.
