    Thanks
So your CPU goes down to 2.6 and the Vcore dorps correct ? Isn't that how Speedstep should work ? Lower the overal speed and Vcore ? and when you load the CPU , Vcore and speed go up ?

If this is the case everything works as it should

Question : Why do some overclockers switch into d*ckmode when money is involved

Remark : They call me Pro Asus Saaya yupp, I agree

    Quick Question

Does anyone have any experience with this board while running very large amounts of ram? I recently upgraded to this board from a P6X58D Premium. I expected it to have the same ease of use but I find that I am having a much harder time.

I am currently running a 980X with 24gb of Kingston HyperX 1600Mhz. When I was on the P6X58D Premium I was able to run the ram at roughly 1750 Mhz rock stable. I could even push it well beyond that in normal every day use but not Prime95.

After upgrading to the Rampage III Extreme I cannot get the board to post with the ram at 1600Mhz for the life of me. I am currently running it at 1594 Mhz. I normally wouldnt split hairs in saying 1594 isn't 1600 but if I simply up the BCLK 1 more from 159 to 160 the board refuses to post at all.

Anyone seen anything like this with this much ram?

Thanks in advance for any help you can give.

Don't worry, you need much more voltage to kill your CPU. Usually heat kills, so keep it cool.
I had i7 920 before this Xeon and it needed 1.45 for 4.2GHz. I lapped it to keep it in the mid 80's (Celsius).

BTW, post your BIOS settings using template, if you still have trouble.

according to intel's spread sheet, the cpu vid voltage range for this proc was 0.800-1.375v,..that's why i'm a bit afraid of increasing the cpuV,

btw, which one works best, higher BCLK lower multi, or lower BCLK higher multi..??..since my proc is extreme proc, one of my friends said that extreme proc is better to play with lower BCLK and higher multi..is that really true..?

Never mind VID voltage range, use this as a guidance:

I use up to 1.6V for benching under water.

Looks like there is not much difference if you set all relevant clocks (Core/UnCore/QPI/RAM) the same.
There is a discussion going on about your question: For unlocked procs, what provides better performance – high cpu multi or high bclock?

Hey Guys, I have a newb question, which program do you recommend to Overclock 2xHD5850 in Crossfire, and which driver should I use....I know they are a lot of bugs about crossfire and overclocking. Will changing my Bios from beta 0704 to 0802 will help me?

(This is my new Update rig, I add the EK Mobo block and a HD 5850 block, I also used the Triple serial bridge for my VGa Cards and using a Link in the middle of the bridge because I dont have 3 cards)

    CPU Intel i7 3930k

    @KaRLiToS

MSI Afterbuner is one off the best, be sure to enable the "enable unofficial overclocking", otherwise you don´t get pass CCC upper OC limit.

Can read about it here, GUIDE to Enabling "Unofficial Overclocking" in MSI Afterburner

Then one more thing, AMD introduced a thing called "ULPS" (Ultra Low Power State) with CCC 10.1 or 10.2 (I do´t remember exacly) which means that it completely shuts down any non-primary GPUs in CrossFire configurations when the video card is working in non-3D mode (e.g. at Windows Desktop).

The thing is that this ULPS can freeze up or BSOD your system, for example if you run Everest, multiple CPUz or other monitor application and also if you "enable unofficial overclocking" and go pass CCC upper OC limit with MSI Afterburner.

ULPS feature is enabled by default installing this driver.

Well there´s a fix, you can edit this setting from windows registry.

You have to search for "EnableUlps" and set them all to 0, when this is done you have to reboot and enable unofficial overclocking for the MSI Afterburner and then you´re good to go and OC those 5850.

The downside is that your system going to draw more power, about 5-10W.

I have done this myself and it works, so get to it

Which driver, hmmm, depends on what your goal are?

I say any of these, 10.3 to 10.6 should do fine.

This is the program for overclocking your cards http://event.msi.com/vga/afterburner/download.htm and of course the latest official 10.6 drivers from Ati http://game.amd.com/us-en/drivers_ca...indows-7-64bit

    here's an odd problem...

why is it EVERY time i go to update bios on this thing, it refuses to use the original installed OS... darn thing makes me reinstall EVERYTHING every time i update the bios regardless if i use BIOS1 or 2...

You can't even imagine how much you help me...
I already had MSI afterburner and the problem was clearly because of AfterBurner, I was always BSODing.

But now with the ULPS option (in regedit) disabling it solve all my problem so man, thank you very much...

Now I need to stabilise my second GPU because its not as good as my first one (sapphire VS Biostar, but still, its the same PCB)
How Should I overclock them, individually? By turning off PCIE Slot?

Do you think my 950w Power Supply is bottlenecking my overclock? (CPU is at 4.3 Ghz)

Have you checked to make sure the BIOS update didn't change the time set in the BIOS? If it did then it would make your windows key invalid.

    PCI-E Bandwidth

Gents...need some help on this question:

This is a bit of a diversion from the bulk of the thread, but as it pertains to a R3E I figured this would be the best place.

I'm considering the addition of a third GTX 480 (currently have 2 GTX 480s in SLI plugged into 16x PCI-E slots 1 and 3 on the board). I also own an Asus Xonar Essence STX, which happens to be a PCI Express x1 sound card (currently plugged into the PCI-E 4x slot on the board).

Due to cable/tubing routing management, I would need to put the sound card into the fourth 16x PCI-E slot to provide enough room for the TRI-SLI configuration. This brings up the question: will placing the sound card in a 16X PCI-E slot cause the board to place the three GTX 480s into a 8x/8x/8x bandwidth configuration? They should run in 16x/8x/8x in standard TRI-SLI mode, but I'm unsure if placing a PCI-E sound card into a 16x slot will affect the performance of the GPUs.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Can somebody who already updated to 0802 bios confirm that ICH PCE value (1.5V) is gone from bios and monitoring software like Everest.
