a 4.5Ghz I7 is nothing shabby man, got no idea what you are complaining about... my 950 doesn't even want to go over 4.4 (no matter what board, this with a triple WC setup...it's a hottie, tops at 4Ghz at 65°C lol) Besides the Classie this is one hell of a bloomfield board... and pretty sure it's better build then UD7 ( ahum GT)...

Question : Why do some overclockers switch into d*ckmode when money is involved

Remark : They call me Pro Asus Saaya yupp, I agree

My Linx Run failed at 9 passes, now I have gone up on voltages and is still failing. There are some settings in the bios I need to play around with that may help stability.
yes that is my suspicion aswell. can run same clocks at a notch or two lower volts, for 24/7 clocks...when i get some spare cash i'll grab a Giga board and check for myself. But overall i'm happy with the board, particularly the ROG Connect feature its just plain sick...btw is there a way I can use my Macbook with ROG Connect?

and don't mind CPUz its reporting incorrect vCore at present. best to rely on ROG Connect/ProbeIT or DMM for now

OK guys a little update of another unsupported gimick product from asus ( R3E ). So today after 2 days of nightmare with a BIOS which doesn't save, and the only way to load windows is thru F2 (load default settings, which for some reasons thru ROG conected laptop shows that bclk jumps from 133 to 500mhz), after flashing bios with 0704 version & prime95 run of few minits and benchmarking I got my 1st BSOD. Guess what happened my SATA 3 256mb crusial RealSSD drive got lost in history. Marvell controler FAILED. and the 704 version didnt solve any of my BIOS problems or PCIe 3rd slot not functioning at all. SO now the drive is pluged thru SATA 2. and sometimes thru RC Poster on load I get a CMOS error msg even thou I can still load windows with F2.

I hear people say here about future packed board. lol , It's me whos future packed with the hardware which is bottlenecked with a crapy low quality defective board with a similar quality support. MY 2x gtx480s are placed on 2nd and 4th since 3rd doesnt work ( and I'm not even sure if they even get 8x each). My 980x with 6gb 2kmhz dominators run like a stock cheap stuff, since I cant get any settings saved in bios. And like all that wasn't enought now even Sata 3 controler fails ?

I called for advanced RMA, and guess what, seems they dont have boards in stock so they cant do advance rma.. they want me to send the board in so they can repair it. lol WTF?!?!? You selling a 400bucks board which doesnt even have an NF2000 chip on ( not that I need it or want it, but it defenetly makes a difference in mbs price ) and is defenetly a low quality build.
It's your flagship board, so atleast it shouldn't be on your SAVE every penny list. And pass some checks before shipping it. I mean with so much unfinished business on it, atleast it shouldn't be defective.

And IF it is, it should be replaced asap with a pretty woman coming down to your door and giving you some mind blowing BJ to release your stress after tearing down WC apart, replacing the waterblock with their stock crap and after, having to get NEW thermal pads ( which aren't cheap or easy to find) for setting up on the new board.

    Totally Disapointed!

That ROG connect looks like something fun to play with, I havent tried yet but plan to. There are a lot of features on this board that Im not use to seeing, so despite not being stable yet it is still a lot of fun.

In other odd news, since lowering my CPU PLL to 1.2 (the lowest the BIOS would accept) I had an incident where my PC lost the video signal while browsing the web. (While passing any other stress test I could throw at it) Upped the CPU PLL a notch and haven't had any problems since.

This board has been a dream compared to the other Intel boards I've dealt with.

Geeze I hope this board is better than a lot of people on this thread thread seem to imply.

I just bought one and was about to order a mobo WB, but now I'm more interested in getting it up and running before the 7 day return policy is up. Asus service has always sucked, that's nothing new. But ASUS has been my choice of mobo for many years now and I'm hoping my latest purchase doesn't disappoint.

BTW what happened to the ROG poster ? Sounds like it may have been replaced with other toys, but I still want my poster display.

I briefly tried ~1.2 it seemed to work fine but didn't try it for very long. I've been using ~1.4PLL and its worked fine no problems at all

I think you will enjoy the board as long as there are no probs with it. As for the mobo block, try it with the active cooling solution provided first then go from there I'm not using a mobo block and its been working fine for me.

After about 12hrs of trying to get stable at 4500mhz I am happily back on the UD7 board. I will pull the RIIE out again one day when I am ready to try again but I surrender for now.

This board is starting to annoy me now! I first had my 930 overclocked to 4GHz @ 1.27V, overnight LinX/Prime95 stable, then it started failing and required 1.28V, then 1.29V, now it has started failing agian!

I bumped the PCI-E frequency up and it seemed to have solved the problem, it ran longer than usual at least, then it failed, so I upped it again and now it just refuses to pass LinX over an hour and fails at random intervals. Getting annoying now. It is behaving like my chip is wearing out, but it can't be because I haven't got any crazy voltages/frequencies going on .

Ever figured out that LinX ain't as perfect as some might think it is... could be much more than just the board...

You could be right but I dunno, I guess I will first try some other linepack programs, see if it makes a difference. I will try and see if there are any things I can change that will make it pass again. I am beginning to think it could even by my graphics card as I know it is slightly buggy and I ought to get it RMA'd but I can't be bothered with the hassle tbh.

I am also biased towards Gigabyte because I have had my best "stable" results with them, so my suggestion to you may not be fair to this board. Others with more experience using the RIIIE and other boards may have better input to help in your decision.
Got it. But I just bought UD7, thanks for the comments.

+1 for UD7. It's my primary board with better support.

I test both board ( r3e and ud7 ) and i like to much r3e, to much better in overclock for me, with my r3e i can fly at 245bclk with my 980x with air cooling, that is imposible with my ud7 for me. With my xeon w3540 i can run 5000mhz in uncore with dice cooling, that is really imposible for in my ud7. i think two board are great, but i like more the asus.

OC Nub is the GUY to test stuff for stability just look at his impressive Linx4.5Ghz thread stats!

I believe you're right on the money OC Nub, the R3X is turning out to be a great board for 980x benching and that's it, for 24/7 that's a different story. Thanks for testing this board my friend.

Thanks for the kind words Jor.

I will try this board again later today, needed a break. I normally just test stability which is not very xtreme but I enjoy it, I really dont have the patience, experience or desire to go for high bclk and other types of extreme overclocking like the some of you guys.
