Bingo13, Is there any chance to get advanced RMA for the R3E ?
my 3rd PCIe slot does not work + I cant save BIOS settings. I always get NEW CPU installed msg and have to F2 to load with default settings.

    Any help will be appriciated

OK, I did a test for you based on 0704 version, now if built in HDA is disabled, HPET goes disabled too.

Have fun until you will get an official version with this function supported.
    Lemme know how goes.
Well, HPET definately disappeared with your custom bios but the latency went through the roof, too the point where it wouldn't register in monitoring software and machine became very groggy. So there has to be more to disabling it.

    Thanks for trying though!!

Well I never tried to disable HPET on my hardware, actually I enable it on systems where was disabled...
I was expected this behavior since, IMHO, a correct configured HPET should reduce the latency and not add more...
There could be many reasons for your latency bug, better wait for an official reply from ASUS, if that will never happen, I'll look deeper in this, and maybe we will find a better solution...

BTW what was the operating system you tried this?
    Windows 7 x64.

In theory the HPET should reduce latency, but on Gigabyte boards disabling it greatly decreases latency for some reason. I've seen it first hand on a UD5 I had for a period and on my curreng G45 HTPC board.

    Jeff,

According to my research turning off HPET does reduce DPC latency in DPC Latency Checker but if you compare DawBench runs under Reaper you have better performance with HPET enabled.

Of course it will be dependent on how the DAW software implements things. I don't use Reaper.

Any chance that we will see a beta bios for the ASUS P6T Deluxe V2, that supports 980x and disables the multi dropping feature?
I hit a wall while I was ocing my cpu @ 4.4 GHz with 6C/12T enabled.
Multi started dropping, going back my ocing.

We are working on P6T series improvements with the 980 processors. I am back and will have updates on other boards shortly.
