Though I'm not interested in GTX460 ,But my sources tell its going to be a winner in its pricing........
GTX460 vs HD5770 ,I think so & its having two 6pin power connectors too !

that card looks intact correctly with 2x6 pin for the 150W its rumored to be and it has 6 sets of solder points for ram, but if its $230 then it wont be going against the 5770 as thats $150-175 and uses way less power (about 30%) or so it would seam. it should be nice.
im hoping that this is not the full the gpu on the card as it really needs a few more shaders and a 256bit buss as if it had that i think that it could take out a 480 stock if it clocks like the 480 dose with liquid

some people say this is the spiritual successor to the 8800gt.
hopefully that means we can get $199 pricing shortly after launch.
and i wonder if these will be the first nvidia cards with dolby truehd and dts-hd bitsreaming ability
the design is a bit perplexing, the plastic shroud seems like it would particularly be bad for this type of fan
and again, lack of a metal backplate seems like a missed opportunity (although i imagine the evga models will have them)

the shroud is normal for a reference cooler it makes it so less air stays in the case so it works with store boughts or with 2 cards next to each other so it wont suck its own exhaust. and backplates are stupid price wise for a reference card when u have no ram on the back and u dont need the support. but i do agree they are nice aesthetically.

When I look at the performance and price segment, still I would go for an HD 5850.
Why is Nvidia overpricing their cards so heavy? Is it connected to the size of the chip?
You're making it sound like 2x 6pin is somehow a good thing?
I don't think there's any way this will compete 5770, the rumored prices ($239 for the 768MB model I think it was?) are more likely, so performance should be a lot higher than 5770 too, to warrant it.
Too bad the power consumption is way too high
I like the design/form factor. Cooling looks reasonably effective for it's size and cost and probably one reason for the good overclockability.

If all people would share opinions in an objective manner, the world would be a friendlier place
This card is not directly targeted at the 5770 or the 5850, it's all over the 5830 & its respective price point, the void between the 5770 & 5850.
If you wanted a cheaper 5850 then this is the card that has the best chance thus far of getting ATI to adjust their pricing to help make up for the 5830's short comings so why whine about it, this is good for everyone.

Well I remember the HD 5850 originally llaunched at $269.99 on Newegg..haven't ever seen the price that low ever since. Hopefully this will bring the cost of the HD5xxx series cards down. This GTX 460 looks promising but if it's got a 150w tdp, why did they decide to use 2 6-pin PCI-E power cables? Overclockability? A reasonable price for this card would be anywhere from $199-$220, especially since the GTX465 is already retailing as low at $245 at some places.
i hope overclockablilty, if they want everyone to push 900+mhz, this would be a good hint of that
No rear exhaust? Seriously? These radiator style heatsinks are garbage for SLI enviroments and that has been shown so many times I really wish they would have chosen a rear driven exhaust based HSF.So letssee what we have here so far about the GF104
Crappy radiator heatsink: Check
900mhz to match a GTX470: Check
2 x 6pin PCI-E Connectors: Check
On par price wise with HD5850: Check
No TRI-SLI: Check
How would anyone in their right mind want to buy this is beyond me. Unless these things are just fanfreakingtastic overclockers and we start seeing 1.3ghz here and 1ghz there why would I take this over a HD5850? Or even a GTX465 for that matter
Id also like to add that people clamoring for this card for its overclocking potential should take a look at the GTX470/480 thread. VID is all over the place and overclocking behavior is erratic at best.
Limiting factor appears to be the memory controller and with yeilds the discrepency between one card and another is enormous. For example my cards on 950mv will do 700/1730 and yet the next guy get 650/2000 with the same voltage. Default VID on these cards range from as low as 830mv to 1150mv and there is little standardization between chips. For example take my two cards; one has a default VID of 930mv the other 975mv
These chips have also shown to have an enormous soft clock barrier that can only be spotted by OCCT and the EVGA test program. While mine is capped at 700 that wont stop it from running Furmark till the cows come home at 740 but the moment I fire up Fallen Earth it immediately artifacts.
The bottom line is that people are being sold false goods, to buy this card on the sole basis of overclocking is a dangerous proposition given how all over the place the current Fermi chips have been.
$10 sez half the people who buy this card wont hit 750mhz with voltage if it behaves anything like Fermi does.
(Note that I <3 my GTX470s I am just being realistic folks)
These cards will be good for the money and with a price drop they will be fantastic but dont be so gullible as to think that people are going to routinely hit 900mhz on these chips for the "8800GT" effect. That is just foolhearty. If that really was the case they'd EOL Fermi today and replace it entirely with these cards.

if the 460s will really be available for 199$ and really hit 470/5850 perf accross the board, then they will really be the next price perf king... i think nvidias plan is to replace the 465 and 470 and the 480 with a 490, so they can eol gf100 in the desktop segment and stop bleeding money.
funny isnt it? gf104 is pretty much nvidias cypress![]()
one for mainstream, one for performance and dualgpu for highend, same strategy as ati... but nvidias cypress is slower, bigger and hotter... still, if they end up selling it for 199$ and most cards really oc to 5850/470 speeds on AIR, then this is great news!
but realistically... i dont think ati is going to let nvidia have a party...
they will just slash prices of the 5850 by 50$ to 225$ and itll make 460s look a lot less attractive...
25$ more and you get 460 maxxed out perf at stock and can still push that up to 5870 perf...

very small (and you can bet as inexpensive as possible) board
very interesting heatsink choice
interesting? its the cr4ppiest gpu heatsink ive seen in a while...
must be dirt cheap... and im very very sure 900mhz was NOT achieved with THAT heatsink![]()
Only way this thing would be the 'next 8800GT" is if its shader count is identical to the GTX470, had a 256bit or wider bus, was power efficient and under $200. Never fails to amaze what bile marketers spew without a second thought.
