Hi guys!
In my Gainward GTX480 i have default vcore = 1.1v.
That's really bad?
I like vodka
Vodka is a best coolant !!!
That was an excellent review, those 470 SLI Fermi's did very well considering that these Fermi's are still in the first generation driver wise, while the 5970 has had almost a year of driver updates! Nvidia's revisions should be quite a bit better by the time the dual GPU card arrives or if it comes at all! Nvidia needs a new GPU cooler as the older design isn't adequate anymore, a complete redesign is needed!
Updated
- SystemlordReplaced by GF104 architecture
Nvidia's mainstream Fermi generation got cancelled. It's not tragic, as the promising GF104 architecture takes over and Nvidia's future mainstream as well as entry level chips will be based on this improved architecture.

Anyone else noticing huge soft clock barriers on these cards? I think it might be memory controller related but I dont know. For example:
PNY GTX470: 937mv default VID
PNY GTX470: 965mv default VID
SLI 937mv stable in BFBC2 with
700 core
1700 memory
Crash randomly with same settings in Fallen Earth
SLI 950mv stable BFBC2
700 core
1700 memory
Stable in Fallen Earth
SLI 950mv stable BFBC2
730 core
1750 memory
Crash randomly with same settings in Fallen Earth
I dont know if its a SLI thing or what but there seems to be an enormous soft cap with these cards so I am wondering if the numbers we see people getting are "really" stable or not because these cards seem to randomly crash after long long long term usage eventhough on some games/tests it appears fine.

Vistageek92's GTX 470 on LN2. Probably wasn't a good idea to use W7 32-bit for Vantage but thats all we had when we benched it.
Card responds to extra voltage and clocks really well in Vantage.
Wish there was a Coldslow mod BIOS, its a PITA.
Benched between -40 and -53oC on TEK9 6.66 Slim.

I agree, the higher VID chips appear to clock much much higher than the lower VID chips. Also Id like to add that OCCT has been the only program I have found that reliabily gauges stability.
Ive had these cards pass furmark for hours but hardlock in certian games and going by OCCT's clock suggestion 700/1731 has been the only thing that is 100% stable.
For those who are overclocking these chips I highly reccomend using OCCT GPU tool.

Beats me!
Maybe something to do with it being plugged in to the 2nd graphics card slot on the R3E?
Wonder if that would lower the score as well possibly?
Actually ran 3dmark03 and the score was really low compared to the air runs we did in the 1st slot earlier with same system CPU settings.... Maybe you just helped me find a cause!![]()

better card than my first one
1st vid = 1.038v
2nd vid = .950v
scaling v/mhz up to 950
900/1.050
925/1.100
938/1.125
950/1.175
when mem is OCed i had to use 1.2v
950/1175@1.2v
975 failed with with up to 1.3v but i'm not giving up just yet, but right now my room is like a furnace after repeated vantage testing

How in the world are you getting these 900MHz overclocks @1.050v? Are you using some kind of vdroop program? Seems like you've had excellent luck with your MSI 480 clocks at low voltages! There has to or should be a program out there that has vdroop settings as vdroop is one reason why an overclock would become unstable.
