ok.. now i'm getting a lil aggro.. I took my rig apart.. made some new HS brackets out of solid copper (instead of acrylic - I figured the acrylic would have an insulative effect).. the temps on one CPU went the lowest I've seen.. the other CPU? well.. it was initially (when I first put the rig together) the cooler of the 2.. its temps shot up to ~95C![]()

my HSs have *never felt hot... I wonder if the temp diode thingy is screwed.. any why to diagnose this?

... I then applied pressure to it (by hand).. negligible change.. I then did the same to the higher CPU, roughly the same pressure..: system freeze. The higher CPU is the CPU that initially had the higher temps.. I have tried *many different levels of HS pressure mounting..

I have some small cable ties that happen to be exactly 1mm
