For crying out loud lol Yes, in comparison to 3 other applications it was unreliable, the latest BETA is now on par with them. Yeah you should download the latest version, but I didn't deserved to get flammed for using the latest official version. The BETA isn't even mentioned on the TechPowerUp page I had to hunt elsewhere for it.

On another note, the main reason I got fed up was the fact he quoted me for being anti Prime95? I fail to see how I was remotely "anti" it by asking a simple question regarding the program.

As talking from experience one or two versions of Prime95 have been known to hold bugs. When Mutli-Core CPUs first emerged on the market there were a tone of problems with Prime95/Orthos compatibility. There still exists a few bugs with hyperthreading whilst using the application as well. That is why I asked if the program is reliable.

hye all.....i'm new here....this is my first post..

i've seen in the first page from this thread that there is a note about i7 965 which is "1. FIX SATA 6G device may experience S3 resume failure when using Intel i7 965 CPU".

Since i'm using i7 965 with asus r3e, what are the problem i will be facing if i decide to flash my bios..??..currently, i'm using the stock version which is 0402..

602 is worth the download anyway mate, the full specs of the BIOS update aren't listed there. It actually adds performance and overclocking capabilities for memory. Others have also reported better CPU overclocking with the newer BIOS.

thanks bro....i will flash my bios to 0602..and see how it goes with my 4.00g's..

my nb and sb are quite hot when oc'ing, i just set the IOH and ICH voltage on 'auto', but then it increase up to 60-70+ for quite sometime. i' ve heard that, we can just blow the nb by putting a fan..is that enough to cool my nb..??

Bad luck on that bios flash, I donīt know how you did it, but hereīs something for you

EZ Flash 2 – the best, the safest and the most convenient way to update BIOS

I have never failed a flash with EZ Flash 2

Nice recovery on that bad flash though

For those who wonder, 0702 beta is no third party, itīs from Asus but itīs not ready for release yet.

    Hi Kaka,

I was dissapointed when I removed my stock heatpipe system to find.

    A, Screw missing from Northbridge
B, Terrible yellow sticky thermal pads which were not applied right
C, Creased thermal pad on my mosfets

Needless to say after installing my EK full cover water block, my NB temp was reduced from 87oc idle to 29oc

after fixing the heatpipe installation myself with decent thermal paste i managed to reduce it to 68oc / 70oc idle.

[QUOTE=If your sound card is PCI-E then you can put it in any of the slots as PCI-E is backwards compatible. If however, it is PCI then you will either have to use the onboard sound for 2x PCI-E x16 graphics cards, or use your PCI sound card along with 2x PCI-E GFX cards with a x8/x16 combo (could be x8/x8 I'm not sure - either way you won't notice much difference tbh but it's up to you), maybe invest in a PCI-E sound card?.[/QUOTE]

Thanks heaps for the feedback Nath.
I do appreciate your help & confirming my thoughts.
Seeing as how I sold several organs to buy all this kit I may as well get myself a new PCI-e sound card too.
    Thanks again Nath.

Does anyone have any adivce on how to break my BCLK barrier. I have encounted quite a few errors trying to get it past 212.

I can use 211 no trouble so far, however 212 seems to get random errors no matter what voltage, 213 the BIOS is laggy and 214 just won't even post.

Any ideas? I have tweaked with the PCI-E frequency, IOH/CPU clock skew (I got it to 215BCLK posting with that somehow), CPU differential applitude, PWM frequency and all the voltages.

I would just like a combination of settings to try as tweaking them individually is getting me no where. Surely I should be able to get past 212BCLK?

EDIT: This is with a i7 930 btw.

Have you Test the CPU on a other Board or only at the RIIIE ?
Can your CPU handle a higher bclk?

I can't test it on another board no, however when running in QPI Slow Mode the other week I somehow got it to 235 BCLK.

    As above.

EDIT: I will point out though some voltage combinations seem to make the board unable to post. For instance it will post one minute but the second I put the IOH to 1.27V then it won't post.

I have tried some random tweaking after reading, tried the PCI-E at 110,111,112 and 113 - no difference.

HOWEVER, my computer wouldn't boot at 213, I checked the timings that the BIOS had determined to be "auto" as I left it at that for safe measure. Am I correct in assuming that the RTL values on channels A>C should all be different?

The timings get closer and closer together until when it hits 213 they become the same on channel B and C - doesn't post. Change the RTL timings slightly so they are different - it posts, but the BIOS is still laggy. I tried loosening the timings another 10, loosened nearly all the RAM timings in fact, but 213 is still laggy and 214 still won't post - annoyed! It has to be a timing issue as so far both RTL and clock skew seem to have an effect on the posting ability and the CPU can get to 235BCLK on QPI Slow Mode.

Thanks for the help guys .

Am I correct in thinking that vtt = qpi/dram voltage? Isn't that a little high for such a mild OC. Especially considering my qpi/dram is at 1.25V with a 211BCLK and its prime/linx stable.

This is with keeping the memory multi at the lowest too. I don't think it is a voltage issue, as one minute it is prime/linx stable, a couple more MHz and it just dies.

Uncore is either 2x or 2x+1 on the RAM. Which I have put at the lowest multi also... so for a 214BCLK it would be either:

    1. 2568MHz
    2. 2782MHz
