X18-M and desktop compatibility
I'm trying to install an X18-M 160 G2 on a desktop, and was told by Intel that this configuration is not supported. Intel came to this conclusion after I bricked 4 drives. I described the problem on Intel's website.
I'd like to believe that it's a problem with my "micro-SATA" adapter, and how power comes from the 4-pin molex connector. Intel didn't see it this way. The drive fails consistently during installation, and is recognized by the BIOS up until failure.
What desktop configuration have people had success, especially when using 4-pin power?
Here's what I've tried so far:
Motherboards: GF9300-D-E, D945GTP
PSU: picoPSU-150-xt, Antec 450
uSATA adapter: http://www.centralcomputers.com/comm...=1275509724359 (I assume this is a startech.com)
