This has marketing fail written all over it. The way I see it:

    Desktop HD5770~GTX260
    Desktop GTX465~GTX275/285

The thing is then that the HD5870M and GTX480M are downclocked 18% and 30% respectively compared to their desktop variants. IOW Performance should be pretty close. IOW I'd guess that the GTX480M should be around 5-10% faster (IRL) than the HD5870M. Considering the GTX480M has twice the TDP... Well done Nvidia

all those huge differences are with nvidia games so with independent review i expect something close to 20 percent

then nvidia to sell a GTX480M SLI which their TDP is 120w but actually uses more like 250w and the battery life goes down from 30 seconds to 5 seconds

They also won at Metro 2033, AvP, DiRT 2, Stalker: CoP, Batman: AA and CoD: MW2, which is a pretty good selection IMO.

that cant happen. ive been looking at some of the best batteries for making electric race cars, the fastest can drain in about 90 seconds, but seriously kill the lifespan of the cells. but one of them weighing only a pound can start a car, lol. theses laptops are pretty much at the point where they cant even have a battery cause there isnt enough output.

I can't wait to hear stories of people easybaking* their nads with these new notebooks.

*The Easybake oven uses a 100w lightbulb for cooking.

Everyone hypes products, it doesn't matter if it is team red or green. Atleast its new product this time. Don't know why Nvidia is not using a gf104, it would seem more power efficient.

Price seems to be unreasonable. More than two HD5870M.

its also 2x the wattage so its more like whats better that or 5870m xfire. u can still use a 5870m in a laptop and not just in desktop replacements, but then once NV gets a smaller part i would expect this one to die and that it would be closer is wattage to the 5870m but then u are comparing a 70W card to a 100W gpu as of now

Better wait for mobility HD6870 @28nm.

Probably with even less power compsumption than mobility HD5870M.

There's a tiny line between laptops, desktops replacements and just making failure. This one crosses a big line.

I've written about Eurocom WS laptops which will have GTX480M too yesterday and I doubt anybody will buy it. It weights around 5,5 kg, this is not much mobile for me. With this weight you have to carry the beast by car anyway, so why not to buy desktop and huge display with much higher power for the same price than? Probably even higher lifespan. Yeah it's bigger but it's not so big problem with car and I'd say 24'' LCD is much more comfortable than laptop

    the Mobility 5850 with GDDR5 outperformed a GTX 285M
therefore, I dont believe the GTX 460M will be faster than the 5870M

Seriously, at this point it makes a lot more sense to build a SFF system like a shuttle. It probably weighs less and lasts longer to bring one around with you, along with a UPS and a monitor.

At some point "technically feasible" is a poor excuse to exercise stupidity in the name of being the best.
