    too bad nobody plays "heaven" or "3D06", so for real world game performance... still no idea

    Well, nice scores considering how scaled back the chip is.. IMO the best part of it is Optimus, which means laptops using Fermi (or should I call them desktop replacements? ) can still have battery life better than 1-2 hrs
    if they can switch to the IGP. On the other hand, I wonder who's going to use one of these with a clarkdale, anyway. The thermals would be more interesing to see. 100W in a notebook only for the GPU? A tad too much maybe?

    5870M = 5770

    GTX 465 = 5850

    GTX 480M has lower specs than 465 and we know that clocks make a huge difference with fermi so lets say GTX 480M = between 5770 and 5830, but probably closer to 5770.

    there is no way a 470M is going to beat a 5870M, the 480M probably will by a bit, but not a lot

    Doesn't it sip nearly double as much energy as the 5870M? So even if it is 40 percent faster it still is a failure. But hey, it has PhysX

    that will be a "desktop replacement Laptop"
    even the smallest desktop PC is inconvience to be moved to another place , while a laptop can be easily moved

    battery = UPS

    4years ago
    I had a laptop with Pentium M 780 and Geforce GTX 7800 Go SLI
    The GPUs is 150W (75W x 2)

    BTW,
    the Mobility 5850 with GDDR5 outperformed a GTX 285M
    therefore, I dont believe the GTX 460M will be faster than the 5870M

    not bad, though laptop gaming is kinda worthless. unless you really need to move it around that much.

    you can using just "one" PC on the bedclothes
    both playing high-end 3D games , drawing Maya3D and surf at the internet in the cold winter

    and the slim laptop or the Desktop can't do that

    slim laptop PC = insufficient graphic performance
    Desktop PC = insufficient mobility

    Having two laptops (one slim 13inch laptop and the other heavy duty 17inch laptop for gaming on road), I know what exactly milkcafe is trying to say.

    Both my desktops sit on the floor under the table and my failienware is always on the bed or couch. Am I not allowed to call them desktops or laptops?

    too bad you can crossfire two HD5870Ms and draw the same power of a single GTX480M

    and who really believes a GTX460M is faster?

    No, it is not

    5870M has lower clock speed than HD5770

    HD5870M
    clock speed: 700MHz
    Memory speed: 1000MHz (4000Mhz effective)

    HD5770
    CLock speed: 850MHz
    Memory speed: 1200MHz (4800Mhz)

    Both have 800 shaders, and 128-bit bus

    Looks like a strong part. I will be interested in a laptop with a 460M or 470M at some point soon.

    That gpu by itself consumes more power than my laptop's power brick can provide.

    How can you measure GPU performance with two different hardware platforms?
