Zalman VF3000A, believe it or not!

Just finished istalling this Zalman's new cooler for Radeon 58xx-series.
Installation was easy and everything gone well cause system started fine.
First i started testing this new cooler with MSI Afterburner's Kombustor, also
known as Furmark. After 5minutes i couldnt believe how this cooler works.
I almost lost my mind when i saw this... (Sorry for the huge pic )

Yeah I'd say that does an incredibly good job. On water at 910MHz/1200MHz/1.17v (still overclocking) with my EK block mine will be around 37*C load on the core, and around 45-50*C on the VRMs. Very impressive for air cooling for sure.

Looking good but i'm afraid it won't hold up like that after you raise Volts. Would love to see though. So far very nice temps for air cooling.

very nice.. how loud is it compared to the stock cooler? only 20C hotter than decent water, so if it is fairly quiet, what a great choice, if it is loud, then, well, pick your poison. lol

Zalman includes Fan Mate 2 on package, havent eyt tested with it but i can say that at full speed this is almost same loud as stock cooler @ 100%!
I might test this with Fan Mate at low speed, but as i readed before from some asian website, temps drop only couple celcius from max to lowest..

Question What was the temp drop vs. Stock cooling?

So what are the real temp drop #s compared to stock cooling at same loads?

Also, will this cooler installed take up the same room as the stock refernce card when installed? Just asking b/c I run two 5850s in CF.

    Thanks

My card was unable to keep core temp under 92c (card's max before throthle)
on furmark with stock cooler and with AC Accelero TT Pro so theoreticaly
difference is about 47c with stock clocks. Think about that. TT Pro's cooling
cababilty was just too low for my card, even stock cooler worked better than it.
Card takes three slots but i think cf feat vf3000 will fit on most mobos(?).
I must say that was best spent 45€ of the year!

Here result with fan 50% (~1200rpm), at this point cooler is almost unheardable!
Difference between 100% (~2500rpm) and 50% only 5 celcius (GPU)!

Very nice results, but I beg to differ about the TT Pro - I run two on my 5850 CFX at 925/1200 (1.225v), and the GPUs stay in the mid 60s under full load, and vrms stay <75c in any game I throw at it. This is while it's nearly silent too.

What about inside a case? Items on an open bench get oddles of free airflow.

Guru3d has a review of the nVidia version of this. It doesn't compare it to other coolers other than the stock one though.

Yeah, my TTPs are running inside a V2000, with a 120mm fan blowing fresh air on them. However, exhaust is very poor.

will two fit in CF on Crosshair III ?

That's my big question. Furmark with cards at 850/1140 1.087v peaks around 73c on top card and 76c on bottom card. If they would fit in my crosshair III, I likey.

    dimensions

So I have a thermaltake mx armor + it's a big mid sized case. The bottom gpu slot of my crosshair III is basically about with card installed has about a 1 1/2 inch gap from the bottom of the card to the metal case.

Here are the dimensions on the VF3000

    Dimensions 239(L) x 98(W) x 51(H)mm

I'm guessing those are the dimensions of the cooler only and not installed on the card.

Time to break out the ruler. I'm curious can you tell?

The slots of your case are about 20mm apart, you do the math
Nice results from this Zalman, I wonder how it compares to the Zerotherm Coolmaxx 3000, that's a dual slot aftermarket cooler for those who don't know it...
