Thanks pcnazz. Those blocks finally got me in the 4.5Ghz Club! Woot!

Still optimizing to get the cpu voltage lower if possible.

Your running my settings almost Le Titi . Your NB frequency is lower then mine , but your CPU frequency is the same . Your tRFC of 88 clks might be able to tighten up to as low as 48 Clks . Your NB frequency should have some more left to go if you wanted to , will require more QPI voltage . Click on my sig to see my configuration as a guide . Nice work Le Titi !

Newb here at XS.... Have been lurking for a bit though.

I have the RIIE (Taiwan Version) and an i7 920 purchased from Microcenter.

I am currently running @ 20x200 w/HT on, 1.275 vcore, and 1.275 qpi. I will post all my settings when I get home.

I have run 10 loops (runs?) of IBT (maximum stress) with max temp of 79c (using a TRUE 120). Finishes with zero errors. I have run Prime for about 6 hours without any problems either.

Did I get a really good chip, or am I missing something? Everything seems stable. I play BC2 without issue, L4D2, HAWX. I've ripped a couple of movies.

I am just really curious because most of these posts I am seeing people running at 1.3xxx and up so I'm not really sure how I am seemingly able to run at a much lower voltage.

This is a serious post as well. I'm not trying to troll, or anything of the sort. Just want to make sure I am doing everything right. This is my first ever higher end setup, so I am trying to learn what all these BIOS settings are for and how I should be going about my OC.

Congrats!!! I think your 930 are about average. There are 920s which can run @ 200x20 w/HT on below 1.200v, even around 1.12v

NO Physics / 23c Room Temperature Cooling / 10.4 Drivers / Single 5970 / 975X @ 4.6GHz HT & Turbo Disabled / This run is not dialed in . I ran it with my 24/7 cpu clocks and ran the gpu core voltage @ 1.2375V & memory @ 1.0V . Basically wanted to show how well a Single 5970 does .

I'm trying to OC a Xeon X5550 (server version of i7 920 with 95W TDP) and I got as far as 4 GHz on reasonable voltages (1.35), but it needs 1.4v on VTT.

It will run on 4.4 GHz at 1.54v but not LinX stable (it passes Prime95 tho). Not sure what to do really, it seems to have the most problems with higher bclk and I have a feeling it stems from the QPI link.
I've read somewhere that Intel chips exibit instability with QPI link over 7 GT/s and it certainly seems to be the case here. If I set it to "slow" it works, but I can see the text drawing on the screen.

My 4 GHz overclock brings the QPI to 6.8 GT/s and it's happy there, but I feel the chip could do more. Is there anything else I can try?

I dropped the multi to 19 (the highest odd-numbered multiplier I can use) and dropped the RAM to around 1000 (from around 1600) and basically took everything out of the equation except bclk, and it failed to load windows.
182-183 bclk seems to be the limit. ?!

Are there any other "hidden" fixes in 1802 bios? Am running 1704 atm, been working good so far. Am wondering if i should upgrade to 1802 or not.

how to downgrade Rampage II Extreme bios to 1504 or any other one this is the way

Make bootable flash drive with HP USB Format Tool inside its folder you will find Win98BootFiles just select the folder when you go to format the usb drive under option Create a DOS startup disk and its done after that copy 1504.rom and AFU236U.exe files into usb drive then go to bios and disable Quick Boot Option, boot from the flash driver use command:

    afu236u/i1504.rom
    or
    afu236u/i1504.rom/pbnc/n

    to flash the bios

when i go above 226 bclk i need to increase PCIe frequency to at least 106mhz. anything above 102mhz makes my 3D performance decrease to a stutter.
is there any way to prevent the PCIe frequency from causing this or at least give me a few more mhz on the PCIe before it happens?

due to this happening i was limited to 4,8Ghz 3D on a 920

100% agreed with you. but if in testing with hardware that does not change we're hanging by something that we can change, especially when there is a 1% increase in overclocking which is influenced by the bios so we can call this version better than the other versions.
