    Asus M4A87TD EVO

Asus M4A87TD EVO - Not very expensive but with good OC potential.
Today they updated BIOS, finally it looks mature.
My 1055T is stable enough at 4Ghz.

Though for daily use I set it:
    CPU: 13 * 300 = 3.9Ghz
    NB: 2700 MHz
    HT: 2100 MHz
    Memory - G.Skill 1333 @ 1600 9-9-9-24-1

New BIOS allows to use PhenomMSRTweaker.

The USB 3.0 is very good with external USB 3.0 hard drive.
And I'm planning ti use SATA III SSD in future

Looks like a champ with the whole sata3/usb3 package. Putting it in my recomendations list.

    Nice results!

Anyone got any reviews for some 870-chipset motherboards yet?

I have the same cpu and motherboard, and similar RAM.
I had to change my tREF to 160 ns to get anything past 3.8ghz to post. Also, I can't seem to get 3.8-4.0 ghz stable. What are all of your AI Tweaker settings, if you don't mind me asking? (Including all RAM timings too).

    I have the G.Skill 1600 Ripjaws F3-12800CL9D-4GBRL that run at 1.5V also at 9-9-9-24.

The key thing is BIOS. with 5.01 I could make it working at 4050MHz but it would not tolerate load for much time. And even at 3.9 GHz it was not too stable, - under OCCT stress it could not keep above 50C. And I could not disable CnQ at all.
With new BIOS and 3.9 GHz it reached at 62C under torture and no problems.

    The setting i use currently:
AI overclock tuner: D.O.C.P. (i believe)
    CPU ratio: 13
    DRAM frequency: 1600
    CPU Bus frequency: 300
    PCIE frequency: auto
    CPU/NB frequency: 2700
    HT link speed: 2100
DRAM timing configuration - nothing changed, auto
    DRAM driving - same auto
    CPU & NB voltage: manual
    CPU voltage: 1.475
    CPU/NB voltage 1.225

    And rest is auto.

    P.S.
and cpu turbo option is disabled

Strange, with those settings my windows logo freezes up at boot up, or I just fail to post all together. I ran the Turbo EVO software after giving up on BIOS OC'ing, and the highest extreme overclock it was able to give me was 3.552 Ghz (FSB at 253).

Perhaps my cpu is just not as good as everyone else's or my RAM just has issues while CPU is under load. I don't think having two 4850's in crossfire would affect the cpu OC...

Get the Turbo Evo software from the Crosshair IV. Works better than the standard one from the cd or website.

I will post my setting when I get home. I have a 1090T though but it may help you... 3.9GHz is the best I got stable. I have to run the voltage way too high for my taste to get 4.0GHz.

Did you use it to obtain your 3.9 ghz OC?

I feel like I've tried many many things, yet I still can't get a fully stable 3.8-4.0 ghz OC (at 4.0, not even relatively stable).

Add cpu voltage. Try 1.5v with open case. Set NB frequency to 2100, reduce memory frequency too. try to start with pressed button on the board "Mem OK"

Tried VCORE at 1.5V and had NB freq set at 2100 (and lower), reduced mem freq to the lowest possible setting, still no good. Also, tried pressing mem OK, but it just goes to windows logo on boot up, and freezes.

Maybe I should up my VDIMM to higher than 1.5-1.6 V? Because I have tried both of those, and they don't fix the BSODs that I get during prime95 tests.

The BSOD during prime95 always says "The system encountered an uncorrectable hardware error."

I did it through bios but come is useful for benching while in windows. I ran the NB between 2800-3000.
I have that same RipJaws ram (not great ocing ram). Tuned it to 8-9-8-24 T1 with 1.55v.
Here is a screenie.... hope this helps. Still at work but will post you my settings when I get out.

well, I figured out it wasn't my RAM cause I tried my friend's F3-12800CL7D-4GBRM G.Skill ripjaws and it was still not stable.

that brings the issue to either the motherboard or cpu. My money's on the cpu =/. Oh well, 3.55 ghz for right now.

I have this board but haven't installed it yet. But the model of ram you mentioned in a previous post(F3-12800CL9D-4GBRL), the Asus QVL memory listing has it running at 1.6v.

But I don't know if that will matter or not.

Hello, i have a 1055T on a Asus M4A87TD Evo and i have a problem with the AMD Overdrive. Almost always when i launch this app, it remains blocked and the whole system is locked and i must restart the system. I installed the ultimate 3.2.1 version. Others with this problem or i can change this utility with others. Byez
