HD 4850 problems?
Is anyone else having problems with this card? It started out fine until I started updating the drivers, even a clean wipe with new driver installs does no good. It artifacts during games, and loves artifacting immediately in things such as the Oblivion construction editor when you're in the 3D window, as soon as you move even slightly or zoom.
It only likes a few games, and I can use all 1GB of it's onboard 1GB VRAM without artifacting - but for everything else it really hates it. I can play Command & Conquer 3, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 both fine, but anything else will artifact. (Sometimes Oblivion)
I tried "VMT", and the GPU itself is fine, tested all 1GB VRAM as well, didn't stop, halt, or artifact.
The support ticket has done nothing, they don't even appear to read my whole ticket when I say things, feeling completely ignored, all they want to do is RMA for everything. I even called in and the guy was completely against me in everything, including saying I was "making an issue out of a non-issue" - correct me if I'm wrong, but a crappy driver that makes the card unable to work properly, is a really big problem. Both ATI & NVIDIA have this problem on working, healthy cards.
I use my GPU for college, when I can. I don't care if they're in the same state, as I know how long it takes them to do an RMA process, test the card only to declare it "faulty" in any scenario just to replace it with something else that has a bad driver. Not having that card which they blatantly ignore would allow me to fail my classes.
I've spent over $250 total in my time with different driver suites, temperature control, tweaks (not the card), keeping the card fan clean, diagnosing every piece of equipment, and dealing with their "support"
I remember the GeForce 7xxx line, was when drivers were actually stable.
