Got ya, so you can still get a valid ORB link using the 'save result' and then manually submitting them?

    Nice. Thanks again!

Yes, just install 3D Mark on another machine and use the "Submit saved result" option ( right click context menu ) to submit the result from the save file ( .3dr )

If you're getting this error during the installation process of Windows 7 x86/x64:

you need to do the Shift + F10 trick as described in the Windows 7 ultimate section in the first post.

    Nice. Just noticed this thread.

    Question:

Is the exclusion of internet capability REALLY that beneficial to the performance of the OS in Windows 7? I was thinking of installing this on my laptop for a cut down version of 7 but of course I want my lappy to have the internetz

    Every little thing helps FlawleZ.

Even if they had internet connectivity capabilities, these versions would be unsuitable for daily usage.

    Understandable.

I suppose I'll keep the "Create nlite Win7" on my to do list then.

Thanks again for contributing! I'll definitely give these a try in the future.

Hey BenchZowner, any reason why I can't install ATI Cat 10.3 on Xp32? I always get a package error upon installation.

Might be the Catalyst setup itself.
I always get a package installation error ( however everything works fine ) with Cat 9.12 as well ( and it also happens on untouched OS's as well )

Is it possible to change desktop background in your xp32? Looking through shutdown services, it's quite.. empty. I'd need a new background for benchtec lowclock challenge

That menu didn't exist, but in Paint I had that option. Then it just said something like "You have to save the file first". I can't remember exactly, had to get benching so I am installing a regular xp32 now. Will for sure try your version again some time

I might install it on one of the rigs here later on and check it out and see if it works or how you can do it

Unfortunately there are lots of parameters in choosing the best OS for each bench.
It can be CPU dependent, VGA dependent and benchmark dependent.

    Take wPrime for example.
It is faster in Windows XP Profesional SP3 x86 with a Core i3/i5/i7 and Phenom II CPU, while it's faster in Windows Vista x86 with a Core 2 Duo/Quad/Extreme.

3D Mark2001SE is the only obvious and single OS preference benchmark, simply put, if you want to score in 3D Mark2001SE you only have one option, Windows XP x86.

Nope, didn't test it on any of my OS's.
From normal installations testing though I know that it runs and scores higher under x64 ( 64 BIT ) OS's.
So make sure you pick an x64 OS.
