WCG/BOINC Milestones

I'm new to the team but, I think I've got the crunching bug. I've only been crunching since the May challenge but it's addictive and it feels good to me to know that I'm hopefully helping mankind.

I've got my gaming rig crunching at 4ghz now thanks to Movieman's email!

Now I'm thinking about building a dedicated cruncher box. Amd or Intel doesn't matter to me. What does matter is building it on the cheap <$500 bones if possible.

Can one of you gurus of crunch possible point me in the right direction? It would be nice to build one with at least 4 or more threads.

I'm in the same boat as you. I got the bug! Join the Quad socket cummanitarian buy. I'm in for 2 boards. They are 4 socket AMD boards that run quad core Opterons. We are looking to get the boards for around $60-$75. CPUs are locked in at $27.50/each I think. Check it out and reply to the thread if you're IN!

Just get the board and the cpus and whatever else that adds to under $500 then fill in whatever you need to get it running later on. that's what i'm gonna do.
